Jimmy Anderson hits back at Michael Vaughan telling for England to drop him and labelling his future 'the elephant in the room'

Forced changes are not needed for any team unless you have a player waiting in wings to take over. Does England have any bowler who can do well in Australia.Archer might be one but anybody else.

If Michael Vaughan feels that Anderson is to blame for the Ashes defeat, then I don't know what he is watching or smoking.

As you get older and older, tolerance for drop in performance will go down. Their batting was the problem. Australian wickets are true wickets where you can make runs if you see off early threat. They went in with two useless openers and consistently exposed the middle order to new ball. That is where the problem is.

Vaughan is absolutely correct. Anderson and Broad hanging on will keep England away from going into the much needed transition.

They have been a good servant of the English cricket but there comes a time to quit. Their stats in the Ashes has been average at best. 8 wickets in 3 tests for Anderson and 7 wickets in 2 tests for Broad. Okay but nothing great. Broad, despite his 5-er in the last test, is finished.

They have now lost 4 back to back test series - 2 vs India home and away one vs NZ at home and now an away Ashes. The team needs a transition and these two are holding back that process.

ECB has failed to attract foreign players specially South Africa, And places like Scotlan Newzealand , carribeans and other colonies.

Past apathy with local talent of certain colour of players is also hurting. So all in all, English cricket is going south. No need to blame Anderson or Root or Broady. Loosing is going to become a habbit very soon.

Well Brexit has ensured the Kolpak nonsense has ended so they wont have the luxury of white SA players anymore...

British Asians esp Indians dont get the chances to play professional cricket, their First class quality is mediocre at best- they are hit and giggle hacking specialists now

Unlike our Pujane, these guys are actually competing with the other Eng bowlers on performance basis. Its up to the selectors to pick from the younger crop but Anderson or any other cricketer would surely be pissed and rightly so if he were to be dropped on age and nothing else.

Its also illogical to expert anyone to retire including non-performers; why should anyone end their chances of a lucrative job if those responsible for selection deem you worthy, or even otherwise ?

Basically he's just a one innings bowler right now & a bunny with the bat.

I think Indians gave up on ECB long back because of reasons like  Samit Patel is too fat and  Monty behaviour needs psychiatric help. I am not using it as excuse but Indians know that there are better options outside Cricket when you factor in risk (mostly no support at top level) vs reward. Its mostly Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin ones who now take cricket as career.

But even there we have situation where Moin is retiring despite being  at peak but Some players are automatic selection despite lack of performance.

So Vaughns statement has nothing to do with issues with English cricket
