He has 13 left in his faction. 42 gone to Shinde. This is getting comical by the day. Opposition and some LeLis are lamenting about peoples’ mandate. They were dancing when MVA was formed against peoples’ mandate.

Uddhav belongs to Rahul Gandhi politics. A dynast who is selfish and incompetent. He is equally surrounded by yes men, and a puppet of vested interest groups.

 

Yet, the difference is Rahul Gandhi is a stronger Pappu as the Gandhi brandname lasts for decades. Whereas, the Thackeray brand as the glue of the party has lasted for just 2 years??

Imo, the immediate fight is who is the supremo of Shiv Sena. Not about who is the next government.

 

The anti-defection law allows 37 rebels MLAs to merge into another party, but they cannot form their own group as that would be disqualified. I don't expect those MLAs to merge into BJP, and giving up the Shiv Sena brand and surrendering it back to Uddhav.

 

How will they legitimately prove themselves as the new leader of the party? And what role will the speaker or courts play?

Just like what happened to JD(U), when a faction broke support to RLD and switched to BJP,  if Shinde faction is given legitimacy by the EC as the real SS, they can go to the Governor and vouch support for a Phadnavis Govt. For this to happen either UT has to resign or face a vote of confidence in the house.  This will be a long drawn battle in the courts, Sharad Powar will not lose battles easily.

Lol but congress never moved away from its core principles. Shiva sena did and it costed them.

Wrong. Congress also moved from their so called "secularism" , by aligning with Shiv Sena. Why doesn't they face the same burden and pressure from within their own party and supporters? They are given a free ride.

 

Remember how BJP faced huge pressure when they aligned with PDP...

Risk of bribery, coercion, blackmail, kidnapping, violence etc. The party controlling the state controls the local police & a lot of things can happen.

Firstly, no party truly trusts its own MLAs. The top leadership and even ground level are relatively loyal, but the mid-level leaders can be opportunistic and selfish. Thus, resort politics is protecting their own assets.

 

Then, misuse state machinery and pressurize of MLAs. Today, that's exactly what Shiv Sena is doing by threatening their own rebel MLAs to come to Mumbai and then see who actually wins.

Isn’t SAD BJP alliance partner ? How is BJP ok with this ? Is Khalistan only way to win elections in punjab

He is from SAD - Amritsar, a splinter group from SAD. Anyhow, SAD and BJP have split since the farmers’ protests and have contested in elections independently
