What was legendary about Marsh?

One of the first of wicketkeepers who became popular with his performances as both batsman and wicketkeeping. He set many records in wicketkeeping and his partnership with Lilllee was exemplary. Dismissals like ‘c March b Lillee’ was one on the top records for quite some time.  Some of his catches have great stories

his batting record is similar to Kirmani and worse than Dujon, Engineer etc. Was Kirmani legendary too.

Its like saying Kaif is legendary just for his fielding.

You didn’t grow up in that era so read up a bit. Don’t compare stats and discuss. Yes Kirmani is an Indian legend despite what stats say. This is a tribute thread. Open a new thread for this discussion

Didn't get you. Marsh and Warne were from different eras. Thomson, Lille, and many others from Marsh's era are alive. :hmmmm2:

I wonder how long that will be though. Oz players seem to pass away quite early. even dean jones wasn't that old.
