deepdynamo
Why is Rishab Pant a certainity in T20 for India? His T20 stats are very poor over a large sample size. DK and Ishan are more value in T20. One more feather in clueless TM as Pant has been made captain in a format he is very poor in. Disaster loading in T20 WC. Link to comment
Majestic
I agree here. Drop Pant and play Ishan Kishan at 4 in Indian team. You cannot stick with Pant for what he is capable of although it has never really come off. There hasn't been an inning where he comes in at 5 or 6 and won us the game single handedly like Klaseen did yesterday. Kishan for all the technical weaknesses has scored runs and at good clip vs pace and spin both. If not Kishan then pick Jadeja at 4 and use DK at 7. Rohit Rahul Kohli Kishan/Jadeja SKY Pandya DK(wkt) That's the way to go. Pant has got enough chances in T20s, who knows maybe dropping him works well like it did in tests?? Just take that decision and look ahead. Also, last time when Rohit captained a T20 team, he played Jadeja up the order and it worked so forget about what happened after that and continue from there. Jadeja at 4 and then three excellent ball strikers in SKY, Pandya and DK. Edited June 13, 2022 by Majestic Link to comment

He is a loner who does well individually in the 3 departments. Link to comment

Infact Jadeja can be floater also and can slot at No. 7 as well. Also Jadeja and Hardik can share the 5th bowler quota also considering both of them are defensive bowlers. But the key thing is to stop obsession on Kishan, Iyer, Pant, Samson, Hooda, V Iyer, Axar etc. and stick to these chosen one and give them continuity and game time in their respective positions. Norman
No matter what changes we make, we are not winning in Australia this year. In fact... we aren't winning a T20 wc anytime soon looking at the new crop of batters that are coming up. We should just simply accept this. TM should focus on project 2023 where we have much better chances of winning two ICC titles in the longer formats. rollingstoned and Adamant 1 1 Link to comment

Disagree! with some smart selections and smart preparation, we can sneak into semis and then it can be anybody game. Just need to decide on right personal and give them proper game time and confidence. Link to comment

Sgattick10
If Kishan is chosen in place of Pant, he has to open. He is not a middle order bat. Rohit and kishan should open KL can come at 3 or 4. Norman and deepdynamo 2 Link to comment
Jay
India can field a good side but batting will still be weak. But take a look at the batting arsenal at s.africa. what a stud team. Have a look at their star studded team for t20. Not so great for odi but still quality overall. For t20 they are a top side. Easy top 2. 1)Janneman malan - can play with power 2)Qdk - 360 player. Can hit big 3) Markram - can do the holding role. Has power. 4) van der dussen - holding role. Supports decently 5) miller - 360 player. Can hit big 6) klaasen - blaster hitter 7) Pretorius - well built. Can hit big. Slogger 8) ngidi - just a number 11. 9) rabada - can tonk 10) nortje - true number 10/11 11) shamsi - shamsi For t20 you need well built guys. S Africa have 6 well built guys who can smash. You don't need batting depth when you top 7 can all hit bug. Rabada, ngidi, nortje, Miller, klaasen and markram. That's 6 well built guys weighing between 83-90 kg. Ngidi the exception being 100. We have how many well built guys? For t20 you need strongly built players. We have zero lol. Link to comment

From the players to the team management, the issue is the same. Yes we may sneak in to the semis, it'd take a miracle like pak 2017 CT to win the whole thing. Link to comment

putrevus
They picked all the right batsmen, bowlers we can argue otherwise. But in both matches Indian batsmen looked out gunned by pace bowling on these slow wickets. It is against spinners they scored most runs. IPL has shown again and again how these teams depend on foregin players to provide batting fire power. Shreyas Iyer: Our plan is to attack 'even if we keep losing wickets' Yesterday batting is being termed as attacking batting by the useless TM.We don't have to look further for reason why this team stinks. Someone needs to tell this moron Iyer losing wickets due to ineptitude is not called attacking cricket. rollingstoned 1 Link to comment

Shreyas, SKY and Hooda qualifies as well/decently built cricketers. Unfortunately Shreyas suffers from same issue which hampered Raina's career, SKY is injured and Hooda don't find a place in XI. We have Shahrukh Khan & Shivam Dube as well, but both are very poor at the international level. Edited June 13, 2022 by singhvivek141 Jay 1 Link to comment

Yes. Hamza is a bit meh. But pietersen, malaan and verreyne are good. Apparently s.africa declining rofl. Yea right. They are as strong as they were post 2013. Their bowling is as good if not better than before. Nortje rabada ngidi Jansen is a brilliant attack for sena conditions. That's why I said time and time again. Do not underestimate safrica in their conditions. The moment we picked kohli ghujara and no prasidh (for bounce), I knew we were going to lose 2-1. No Gill due to injury. No sundar. Not picking saini over umesh who was in good form for SA tour. Say what you want, A tours are very good indicator of a players ability in official games. Jansen came from A tour. He impressed there. We keep sticking with quota picks and seniority based picks. Mesky99 1 Link to comment
deepdynamo
Give Umran and Arshdeep 3 games and see if they are worth the hype. We desperately need some variety in bowling. Want following team today and see if it can make a difference. Kishan V Iyer Hooda Iyer Pant Hardik DK Bishnoi Bhuvi Umran Arshdeep Link to comment
Lone Wolf
India could sneak into semis but they need to drop deadwoods & pick a specialist team based on Aussie conditions. Bowlers like Harshal Boobie are cannon fodders. Chahal the leggie is useless & he can't hold a bat or field properly. Invest in Umran Bishnoi & Prasidh/Mohsin for T20 WC. In batting push Rahul into middle order. SKY at 3. One among Ishan/Pant.. Ishan is ahead rn. It may not be a world beating team but could fluke a world title on its day. Link to comment
Majestic
Rohit Rahul Kohli SKY Jadeja( all rounder) Pandya( all rounder) DK(wkt) Pant needs to be dropped. Put him in the squad only. He doesn't have the right shot selection in LOIs. He tries to hit deliveries which are not there to be hit and that doesn't work in T20s also especially when you are building the inning. You gotta pick the right deliveries and execute it better to score impact runs. Better to drop him now. Jadeja's batting will be utilised better if he bats at 4 or 5. His bowling doesn't help much and it is again same style as Yuzi but the alternative of Jadeja is Sundar who don't have the batting skills of Jadeja to bat in middle and then accelerate later.
