For a domestic coach to work well with the national team, it has to be someone who was a superstar himself as a player. Otherwise, he will try to advise someone on their technique/attitude/work ethic, and the player will just be like "what da eff have you achieved that you are advising me?" Do you seriously think Shastri knew anything about being a coach ?
