For a domestic coach to work well with the national team, it has to be someone who was a superstar himself as a player. Otherwise, he will try to advise someone on their technique/attitude/work ethic, and the player will just be like "what da eff have you achieved that you are advising me?" Do you seriously think Shastri knew anything about being a coach ? Multiple players have called out Pandit over the years, and quite recently Narayan Jagadeesan, and David Weise came out against him as well.

Praising is common though and is done formally. People praise Dravid too, does that make him great? Negative feedback by multiple players is definitely a pointer to something.

Some moronic selector selected him as batsman.
