30 point jump for Root to his highest ever ranking. Still below Smith or Kohli's peak though.

Bairstow is currently the the hottest property in test cricket … Hope he continues his good form.

Pant is another hot property esp. considering his ability to do well in most conditions.

Rohit sharma in top 10 lol He had one good series. That's it. That too not like Jo Root or even peak Virat's series. Just better than others. Usman is in crazy form as well. Averaging like 114 in test championship.

That series in india he did well and he scored when it was low scoring so it helps in rankings.

Where are Kohli, Pujara and Rahane ranked?

Nowhere near top 10- and rightly so. These three oldies continue the legacy of senior players past their primes being pushed out due to bad form rather than end their career on a high with memorable performances

On current form, the top 6 batters in an XI should be :-

1. Karunaratne

2. Khwaja

3. Marnus

4. Root

5. Bairstow

6. Pant

If you are going by 2022, then it should be as follows:

Khawaja

Brathwaite

Root

Babar

Bairstow

Pant

Mitchell

I have taken last 1.5-2 year into consideration. Saw some stats that Karunaratne has 5-6 test hundreds during this period while Root had 11 and the rest had 3 or lesser hundreds.
