We can still salvage our bowling attack and maintain team balance if we do this for WC 2022

Bhuvi still bowls well upfront and can be bowled out before the death overs. Don't know what form Shami is in in T20s.

Shami was picking loads of PP wickets in this IPL 2022. We will get a chance to check out against SA.

His variety of quick seam bowling will be more effective in Australia than the floaty swing of Bhuvi. We will need pace, bounce and seam movement in Australia.

Another problem with having Bhuvi is that he will invariably be used at the death if present in the playing 11.

If we want to salvage our bowling then this type of bowling attack maybe ok for Australia ... given our squad constraints.

6. Hardik

7. Axar

8. Ashwin

9. Shami

10. Bumrah

11. Arshdeep

.... Niggle out one of the trundlers and bring in Shami from the reserves

.... Bumrah and Arshdeep will take care of death bowling

.... Shami and Bumrah will bowl upfront. Ashwin is a good PP bowler too. So 3 options

.... Ashwin will be a better bowling and batting option than Chahal.

.... Ashwin's inclusion means we can leave out trundler all-rounder at 8

.... Shami can play if we have 2 good death bowlers like Bumrah and Arshdeep. He can be an asset in PPs in Australia. Plus he can tonk a few at 9

.... We will have 3 quick hit the deck pacers in Bumrah, Shami and Hardik ... ideal for Australia

.... We will have 2 good death bowlers .. 3 PP bowling options .. batting till 8 .. some hitting ability at 9 .. 3 quick hit the deck pacers including Hardik .. 4 pacers in all .. 2 spinners

Shami is a risk but considering where we are playing Pak & SA (MCG+ Perth) ..  And the options we have there's no choice.  Have to bowl his 3 overs upfront in every case.  I'd have liked Siraj but TM is blind & Shami is in reserves so he is ahead.

Harshal Boobie have no business at all in Aus that too in MCG & Perth...  Adelaide is where we play BD I think...  Another venue which favors fast bowling under lights in Australia & India games are all Night fixtures

Yes ... and Shami's PP bowling skills have improved a lot in the last 3 years in the IPL.

Just one change instead of Ashwin get Bishnoi

Shami in the last 3 IPLs ....

IPL 2022 ..

20 wickets from 16 matches .. ER 8.00

IPL 2021 ..

19 wickets from 14 matches .. ER 7.50

IPL 2020 ..

20 wickets from 14 matches .. SR 8.57

Basically 59 wickets from 44 matches at an ER of around 8.

If he is not bowled much at the death then he should do even hetter.

Problem with this lineup is that 'batting till 8' is misleading.  Simply not enough firepower for Oz grounds where 200 is par and chaseable.  Axar and Ash both fall short on the batting front, and even from a pure bowling perspective, I don't think I would want both in the team.  I'm a big proponent for having Ashwin in the team, pairing him with a legspinner.  We can really attack the middle overs with the relatively bigger boundaries in OZ with that tandem.  Axar on his best day with the ball in T20 is not an attacking bowler.

In fact, if Hardik is fully fit and in decent bowling rhythm, then I'd be fine with a lineup of a leggie, Ashwin, Boomrah, Bhuvi/Arshdeep, and then Hooda to replace Axar.

Its a shame that with all his experience and ability that Shami can't figure out death bowling.

As I said in the OP, we are bound by the restrictions of the chosen squad.

We have only 1 leggy and Chahal won't do.

Ashwin's hitting ability has improved a lot in recent times and we don't have better options in the squad.

Another way to salvage the WC is to find better teams to follow.

Top 3 is more suited to bash minnows while being exposed against good teams.

Arshdeep, though a good trier, is likely to run into a big hitter who could shatter his confidence … Bumrah can crack under pressure … Ashwin needs “tired” pitches to be more effective.

The MO cannot always save India esp. if batting first.

Only hope for India is if somehow most of the players find their best form in the WC.

Our fast bowling lineup for this world cup is :

Bumrah

Bhuvi

Harshal

Pandya

Chahar

Arshdeep

Shami

Bhuvi should bowl three overs in the PP, that's where he can actually do something

Then come back in the fifteenth over to bowl the last one, Yes Bhuvi is slow but he is an intelligent bowler it's just that he shouldn't be used at death, he is unable to handle that pressure.

Bhuvi can also be replaced with Chahar if he continues to bowl filth in the remaining matches.

Harshal is someone who I am not really fond of. We can replace him with Arshdeep who will definitely perform better than him.

Bumrah is our best bowler, should bowl one at powerplay, one in the middle overs and two at death.

Pandya should be used in the middle overs or maybe one over in the pp too

The thing is that people think that India has many options, but truth be told, we don't have many who can do better and still keep the team in balance.

We can't ignore lower order batting just to fit in faster bowlers who can't move a bat.

One more thing, Chahal should be dropped for Bishnoi if he continues this form.

Sir no. we have no talent.

We have no fast bowlers in our reserve.

We are a trundler nation only.

Bhoobi

Harshal

Chahal

Chahar

Jaspreet only cause he is jasprit.

Agree with you, there's a lack of fast bowling talent.

Karthik and Umran are there but they need time
