lol Hasn't happened. So far Indian wristies have owned babar 3 times in a row. Kuldeep bowled him neck and crop twice. One time he got away was when India did not have a leggie.

He is taking about that fattie Azam Khan,Moin Khan's son who isn't even in squad:phehe:...Seddha 20 runs an over..Kam toh sochte hi nahi yeh log..

The problem is Ashwin hasn't been offspinner in LOIs..Part time spinner and full time scientist...His oversmartness and too much experimentation has ruined him..

Ever since his returns his eco has been excellent

He was the most eco bowler for RR also

Ruined?? U gotta have variety to stay relevent in t20 as a finger spinner.  If relying on off spin was easy then lyon wud have done well to but aussies dont even consider him

lol We can use Kedar Jadhav to nail him.

Leg break bowlers have excellent economy and great average too at the MCG. INdia should have played 2 leggies here. This is pathetic that India goes in with just 1 leggie. Probably Kulcha.. it is better KulBi lol

Ashwin has case just due to batting ability

If at all there is an usecase they can throw him to handle Shadab and Nawaz. Don't expect him to click. But if he clicks he can do some serious  damage.

His batting is more of a bonus, but his bowling in T20 is getting seriously underrated lately.  His effectiveness against Lefthanders is a weapon, and with the bigger boundaries in Australia, he can be very effective against right-handers too.

Problem for him is team balance.  Hard to slot him into the team given the lack of batting ability in the rest of the bowlers.  If he plays, then you almost need a Harshal/Shardul as your 3rd pacer, given that we don't have a front-line spinner who can bat a la Shadab Khan.

not just batting

  • his eco- a good is eco is of great value in t20..............eco is srsly underrated n misunderstood by fans
  • his bowling against left handers and mostly our bowlers are not good against them .  WI-SA-Pak have left handers and incase of Pakistan right handers also struggling against offie
  • yuzi form is one big reason
  • Longer grounds
  • experience in Australia
  • Variety
  • all phase bowling

half of these are avl with yuzi also but his form is a concern

I meant even that makes him a big option over Chahal and even Axar.

We can play Axar,Ashwin+ 3 pacers or just Bhuvi at 8 as we have been doing. Chahar's injury is big loss too.

None of these guys are suitable T20 all rounders. Shabaz is probably slightly better than these guys. May be in future.  The way i see it if your spinner can't bat to save his life he should be an absolutely  gun bowler. Someone opposition wants to see off. Do you seriously think any team will want to see "chahal off". Which is why his batting/fielding should have been given weightage when they picked him. His bowling is probably adequate. But adquate is not enough.

I think playing zero wrist spin - i.e. Axar and Ashwin is a big risk.  You need a wrist spinner to pair up with Ash IMO.  Bhuvi at #8 with Ashwin as 2nd spinner is a long tail and simply not good enough.  That's why a Chahar/Harshal/Thakur would make sense.   Selectors have gone with Harshal ahead of Thakur for that 3rd pacer who can bat a bit role, and that's what we got to go with for the WC.  Let's see what happens.

Ideally I would want to pick only one out of Bhuvi/Chahar/Thakur/Arshdeep to pair with a Boomrah/Shami, go with Hardik and a batting allrounder who can bowl decent spin to pair up with a wrist spinner and Ashwin/Axar.

For the next ODI WC in India, Washington Sundar needs to be groomed asap.

At the MCG going in with no wristies will be viewed as most bizarre move. Wristies are the heroes at the MCG.  Offies/left arm orthdox are economic but very hight average meaning they don't get wickets. I would rather go with 2 wristies if possible.

If the opposition has a couple of lefty bats, you can set aside this conventional wisdom of wristies vs finger spinners.  Besides, Ashwin has quite a few tricks up his sleeve, he's not like Jaddu or Axar in that regard, and has a lot of variety to deploy.

He is probably the most experienced bowler at MCG. Has played 3 tests, 4 ODIs, 2 T20Is
