Something for Pak to cheer (T20WC22)

In a WC, ICC cunningly schedules an Ind v Pak game where Pak somehow ends up losing it, many times due to panic and poor strategy/tactics (who bowls Nawaz in the 20th over?). So you have to factor in a loss to India. It is done and time to move on. If your team dwells on it, it could impact it in other games too.

Let's look at the SF from the last few LOI WCs:

2016: ENG, NZ, IND, & WI

2019: AUS, ENG, IND, & NZ

2021: AUS, ENG, PAK, & NZ

Therefore, 3 teams have repeated in the last 3 events. If you count 2016 as Year 0, you would need 2022 to have 3 teams to create the pattern of 3 teams from previous events repeating. If 2016 is seen as Year 1, the pattern is already created.

This time only two from AUS, ENG, & NZ can make it. Therefore, IF the pattern is to be created or already created, PAK would need to be the 3rd team. The 4th team can be BD, IND, NED, SA or ZIM.

Don't forget a rainy world event in Aus reminds of 1992. NZ has already beaten AUS much like in the opener in 1992.

Pak still looks a better T20 team than India.

They will drop one batsman and play an extra bowling allrounder and that alone should make them favorites in the group.

If they get it right they are still the most dangerous team in the tournament.

Only thing that they need to watch out for is taking the foot of the gas against Bangla, Ned and Zim. These minnows can spoil anyone’s party including Indias but Pak are usually capable of implosion against weaker sides .

If they qualify for semis, they are winning this.

Beat 2 SENA teams along the way, both in must win games. Rare for an Asian side, respect!!!!

Yeah, to me, it was the best team in Group B.

* Lost to Ind due to Nawaz’s over on the last ball (Haven’t seen such a crap last over bowled in a while)

* Unfortunate to run into Zim at Perth (and upsets do happen)

* Got the regular win in against NED (Its 1st T20 win in Aus if I m not wrong)

* Beat SA to create the must win pressure on it against NED (If SA had beaten Pak, it would have been in. That loss created the must win pressure on SA)

* Made short work of BD

* Took care of a strong NZ, which beat Aus and SL at SCG

Concur.

IMO they were the best team last year in UAE, despite losing the toss in SF it took a miracle for Aussies to get over the line. Terrific T20 team, their selectors have good foresight. Also a very watchable team courtesy their bowling unit.

I think one very good white ball selections have been made is of Mohammad Nawaz. I've always been a fan of Nawaz and was of view that he did not get a fair chance despite making a debut in 2016.

He can not only be of value in limited overs but also test cricket with left arm spin.

Haris has been a big plus for you guys, came out of syllabus for opponents. Also the way Shadab and Naseem have developed last one year or so, wonderful!!!

Haris is very young but has ability to play pace and short bowling unlike our other batters. This gives him X-Factor, however he is still very young and has only played handful of domestic matches

Pak would be favourites even if we manage to beat Eng

They are a better T20 side, we rely on individual brilliance to get us over the line. Man to man they will be ahead.
