Who should be the new LOI opening bowlers for Ind?

Considering the upcoming 2023 ODI WC in Ind, and 2024 T20 WC in USA & WI ... Ignore Bumrah in the discussion.

Difficult to win a tournament with likes of Bhuvi & Arshdeep opening the attack as they are more like 3rd or 4th bowlers (but forced to open with as they can swing the ball :yawn2:)?

ODI bowlers are doing good, Siraj+Bumrah can start.

T20 combo should change depending on conditions. Arshdeep/Chahar are more effective than Bumrah at the moment, better use him with old ball (unless there's early support.)

ODIs - Bumrah + Shami + Siraj( All three are capable depending on form) and then you have Prasidh as backup.

T20Is - Will have to watch a few more names as how they go( eg - Kartik Tyagi, Mohsin etc) but at the moment, I will replace Bhuvi with Siraj and give Siraj that new bowl role alongwith Arshdeep. But open to see what more we have got in our arsenal.

Siraj, Sen, dayal and prasidh, the current options we have, sadly neither tyagi nor Mohsin are playing domestic cricket currently, hangaregekar is playing, important for him to do well, a couple of 50s down the order and wickets in the vht, he may just be in the reckoning.

Arshdeep is good. He should continue. In modern cricket, we need new ball bowlers with diverse skillset. Be able to swing and seam the new ball, hit the deck with the old ball, able to ball variations and yokers at death. At least two of the three skill sets are a must. Arshdeep fulfills two of them new ball and death overs and is started to hit 140. Bumrah can do all three. Need one more pacer with good pace who can swing and also hit the deck in middle overs. Kartik, Kuldeep, Prasidh are the options. These five can form the pace battery.

Potentially, Tyagi does have all 3
1) He is quick (probably fastest after Umran)
2) Can move the new ball + bounce the batters
3) Has a very good yorker

I just hope he remain fit, don't want to lose him into the system.

I think Bhavaneshwar Kumara and Arshadeep Singh is the best available option at the moment. They both hunt in pairs.

While Bhavaneshwar can create early damage with the new ball, Arshadeep can be deadly with reverse swing when the the ball gets older.

They both can occasionally surprise with pace. That said, they need support from the slips fielders.

India should try 5 out and out seamers once without spinners as part of the experimentation

In ODI's...if Ravi Bishnoi works hard on his batting (which he's doing currently) and bat at no 8, I will include the Kuldeep, Tyagi, Siraj, Prasidh and Umran as my 3 pacers (not including Bumrah). Else I have to drop one and include Hangargekar or Chahar at 8 and Bishnoi moves to 9.

In T20's, with same assumption, Arshdeep or Mohsin (if he maintains his form in this IPL) or Yash can use one slot, while Tyagi, Umran and Kuldeep will take other 2 spots. As we have 2 year time, in my ideal world we should be able to exclude Bumrah from the rigors of white ball cricket and focus only on red ball along with Shami (who it seems will retire in an year or 2).

I would love to see that in in SENA conditions, but problem is none of our quick bowlers bat except Umesh.

With our fragile batting, we need a cover till no 8 atleast.

Dayal ahead of arshdeep in odis, arshdeep is quite one dimensional and his list A record is nothing to talk of yet, mixing formats will hurt india in the long term.

Arshdeep is learning quickly and his list A isn't bad at all. He also is a two phase bowler, new ball and death  Dayal right now is just one phase bowler.

Chahar/Thakur can cover. Toss out Bhuvi as Chahar can pretty much do the same thing
