Sundar --> our best all-round batting talent in terms of potential [but needs to get more chances to actualize it]

Gill//SKY/Sarfaraz --> not convinced fully about any of them; each have pros & cons

Axar/Kuldeep/Umesh --> choose as per conditions. all of them can bat to varying degrees [umesh has 20+ batting avg in SC since 2017]

You must include Hitman and Pujara its the rules of the BCCI. Its 100% going to happen, no doubt about it.

 

There is a chance that KL may be dumped for the Australian series, I doubt Kohli will.

 

The reason India may lose to Australia is having Kohli and KL in the team.

You mean premeditated injuries then I agree. Wouldn't surprise me if our kela orders our pace attack ro injure our key youngsters before the big series.

Yes ,I have a feeling it'll be a blockbuster Series ,just like the last one in 2017 .

I think it'll be very tough to win for India especially with losers or Out of form players like Kela ,Pujara ,Kohli ,Rohit .

India either have to throw out a couple of them by then or Hope the rest of the players perform out of their skin or at least peak level .

Key players will be Ashwin ,jadeja,Pant as usual , X factor will be Kuly ,Shreyas ,Umesh and Hopefully Gill .

The current Australian Players are vastly experienced in these SC conditions now ,they should fancy themselves to at least draw the series Draw if not win against a declining Indian side .

With proper selection (Kela/Kohli out, Sarfaraz/Sundar in, also Kuldeep in ) we can beat them comfortably. That's the sad part, at our best we are pretty much invincible in SC, but unnecessarily making life tougher for ourselves. 

 

11 vs 11, we will beat them, maybe even sweep them away 4-0, but pretty sure we are going to handicap ourselves and play 7-8 vs their 11. Then up to the likes of Shreyas, Pant, Jaddu, Ashwin, Siraj, Umesh to peak and cover for 1.5-2 players each, tough to do that over 4 tests against such a dangerous opponent.

I ll play with Ashwin Axar and Jaddu if fit. The last test match which Aus lost after losing to India in brisbane was against SL in Galle where Prabhat Jaysurya the slow left armer picked 12 wickets in the match.. Aus were like headless chicken against him..and with Pant gone we need enough batting coverage..

Why don't we make similar surfaces like the SA 2015 series & have just Umesh as the lone pacer & spin quartet of Aswin/Jadeja/Sundar/Axar

May be bcoz Ind is not sure of their batting against spin, previously Pujara was getting runs against spin to give Ind a winning total

ind batting against spin can be okay if right XI is chosen. otherwise, yes, we are very weak

Based off of realistic options, since Pant is most likely gone for the series and Shaw is ignored.

Ash, Jaddu and Axar are definitely equivalent to almost 2 Australian batsmen on slow low turners.
