zen Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 Hardik Pandya | India captain: I think he (SKY) has been surprising everyone every innings that he is batting. He is just telling us that batting is so easy. If I were bowling to him, I'd be disheartened on seeing his batting. Special mention to Rahul Tripathi - the ball was doing something but he showed great intent. Then SKY did his thing. You don't need to tell him anything, he knows what to do. If there is any situation where he is unsure, we have our chats but more often than not, he knows what to do. I'm really proud of him (Axar), the way he is batting down the order and hitting. This will give a lot of confidence to him and the team as well. My motto in life as captain has been that I'll back my players. These are the best T20 cricketers in India and that's why they are here. There is no space for doubting in this format and we're backing the players properly. The way we played in the series is pleasing, we didn't even play 50 percent of our game in the second game but we still fought well. Only a jeweller knows the value of a diamond like Sir Don

neel roy Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 5 things we learnt 1. We need to sky to fire to win matches which is not a good sign. The rest of the batsmen needs to be good as well. SkY has single handedly won t20 matches for India and so the focus has shifted from others. We need another gun batsman from the rest and I think Iyer will be key in spin friendly but abrasive pitches in windies 2. Opening is still a problem and a big one in that. The options: Rohit Kishan Gill KL Rahul. Not a single player gives us any confidence. All other nations has a better and settled order than us. So who shall we look to? Nobody is in horizon even in ipl other than shaw but he cant get to get rid of alcohol as per hearsay…remember the pitches in windies are not easy to bat on and blast 200. Just see the last series which India won 6 months ago. All middling scores. 3. Spin bowling. Still no clarity except Axar who has cemented his place. Chahal is a dud. Kuldeep Bishnoi on sidelines. Sundar should be tried out ala Theekshana and he bats well. We need 2 spinners in windies 4. Pace bowling. Now we have enough stocks thankfully but need to maintain fitness. Bumrah Siraj Arshdeep Umran should be the 4 along with Pandya to bowl 2 overs. 5. Iffy players : Hooda ( needs to be consistent). Tripathi ( needs to be a bit calm in crease.. gets over excited. Today he was the game changer though .). Mavi ( not sold on his bowling. His batting and fielding is better than his competitor avesh though) missed opportunity: Sundar, Hooda ( bowling). Number, nitinbwj, tapandrun and 2 others 1 1 3
nitinbwj Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 @neel roy yes but Mavi looks like a gun fielder and can hit the ball for sixes which is what i want in the lower order tail. if he can improve his bowling, he will be in. Need him to play the NZ series as well.

His problem is he has a good yorker but he is afraid to use it. Saw it many times in the ipl.. he needs to play more..

nitinbwj Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I wish SKY thrashes the padosis if and when we play them next. I am sick of the idiots saying that SKY doesn't perform against quality faast bowling despite thrashing SA in Perth. SKY has inexplicably failed against Pak thrice.. Just whack them next.

Frustrated Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) R Tripathi is a positive. Has the intent from ball one, which is a good sign. Should be given a longer rope, IMO. Edited January 7, 2023 by Frustrated
