Despite talks of transition, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are to continue for now. Selectors will discuss whether they should stick to Pujara with Rishabh, Shreyas, and KL Rahul still injured. Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal besides Suryakumar Yadav are likely to get call-ups. The other major change will be a change in the wicketkeeper. KS Bharat is all set to make way for Ishan Kishan. There will be discussions on Wriddhiman Saha who has been forced into exile in favour of KS Bharat. But with an unsatisfactory batting performance by Bharat, Saha could get the nod. Selectors will also discuss Wriddhiman Saha who has not been considered since the New Zealand series. Among bowlers, Mukesh Kumar is set to get a call-up in place of Umesh Yadav SuryaKumar yadav ahead of other domestic players who have done well in first class is injustice. BlueBlood
They will bring back Ashwin and as usual bolster batting by adding KL instead of KS Bharat. But will not experiment with the main issue which is bowling. Then resident idiot posters will come running once Ashwin and KL dominate hapless WI saying both should have been included in WTC and the cycle repeats. If I was KL Rahul and Ashwin I would purposely injure myself in pressure knockouts so people will miss me and select me back again. Not known fattu's like KL Rahul, Ashwin have consistently bottled it in knockouts. Vijy, singhvivek141 and zen 3 Link to comment

zen
Realistic test team for WI tour 15 + 3 backups: Batsmen: Rohit, Gill, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Jaiswal, & SKY, along w/ Sarfaraz as likely backup WK: KS Bharat & Kishan ... won't be surprised if Saha is brought back Pacers: Siraj, Thakur, and 2 from Unadkat, Umesh, & someone new if Shami is being rested. One of them would be the backup Spinners: Axar, Ashwin, Jadeja, & maybe Kuldeep as backup tweaker 1 Link to comment

Bowlers let slip away two away series from their hands. Both are problematic. But batting has been a longer problem. Runs for 3 plus years. Pujara/Rahane were let go. Then they were brought back in. It further sets us back. We have this new problem of captaincy as well. KL Rahul was atrocious in South Africa. Then noob Bumrah was completely out of depth in 5th test. Now Rohit equally match them. And another issue is Keeper problem. Although we know Bharat sucks, we still don't know how good Kishan will be. He could end up being a horrible keeper and poor bat in Tests. Then the obvious problem of coaching. All 3 coaches. India has far too many issues to fix. Link to comment

India has played on the most bowler friendly wickets in last decade both away and at home.Jadeja is no way a sub 25 avg bowler similarly Ashwin and Axar. People need to stop overrrating Indian fast bowling, there is no great fast bowler produced in India.Great fast bowlers have more impact than great batsmen all the time and Bumrah has come up short in every format when stakes have been high. Bringing back Pujara and Rahane along with hiring of Dravid as a coach are main reason for team not progressing forward. tweaker 1 Link to comment

That was way better than current English attack. Also aggressive field set, overall aggression level was good. Bumrah could generate steep bounce of the length before his injury. Then Ishant was there to bowl those sharp inswingers to right handers. Siraj was bowling peaches on and off. Shami was providing able support. Look at the field set we had on day 5 at Lords. Look at what we had against Australia. Moment Moeen Ali walked in India had short leg, forward short leg in place unlike our current clownery management who didn't even attempt bouncers against Head for one thing. But we also didn't have short leg or forward short leg when we actually did. Link to comment

tweaker
The selectors should strike a balance between experience and youth and should select the side accordingly. Windows is not a strong test team and the selectors can take risk and select some youngsters who have good performance in domestic cricket. Sarfaraz,Jaiswal should make their debut in this series. The selectors should also look for Shami `replacement and select a young pacer in the squad. Link to comment
Adamant
The bowling lineup should be Shami 145kph Siraj 150 kph Prasidh 150 kph Thakur 140kph Harshit Rana 155 kph Pace Demons Link to comment
