Australia bowling line up is significantly better than the English counterpart but Stokes is head and shoulders above Cummins as a captain. Not sure how much is him or the backroom experts that have wargamed every match up that England have brought in Vivek92 1
zen Posted June 20, 2023 Author Posted June 20, 2023 Moeen picks up dangerman Head (whiners like Ashwin can only dream of such a thing based on doing well on rank turners, rather than deliver performances on field in varying conditions)

vvvslaxman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Hazlewood/Lyon two freebie wickets. Even Cummins is not going to make huge runs. That is 3 wickets. They just have to get rid of 2 of the next 3. I am sure Carey will reverse sweep and get out.

Norman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 They just need to eek these 20 odd runs somehow and the pressure will be back on England. Bowlers tired, settled batters, queiter crowd and it can all be one way traffic from there on.
vvvslaxman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 Assuming there are not light issues late in the evening they have 46 overs 120 runs to get. That is tricky even in ODIs when you have not many to come.

Australia's problem is they don't have someone like Smith at the crease instead they have Usman who is in blockathan mode. If the askin rate touches 4 England will get more aggressive. They just need two good balls. It is almost like Aussies wanting to take loss out of the equation first before going after win.

Ali gives the ball very good revs which aids in his dip and could always spin the ball. His problem is he is not as consistent as say Swann was so he leaks more runs. You don't take 200 test wickets by accident. How did Shane Udal and co make Indian batsmen like Sachin and Dravid look when they were bowled out for 100 in 2006.
vvvslaxman Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 This is how 36 year olds should bat. Not scoring 40s and unleash army of bots on twitter to hype that innings.

As far as batting on turning tracks Sehwag/Gauti are reasonably good. Laxman is good. Rest are including sachin gets nervous. Still remember how tentative Tendu was against Paul harris the debutant in SA.
