Surprised they went with Roy. Crawley or Salt seem better options now.

Brook should still have made it ahead of Malan

IPL experience probably played a role. Salt also clicked in a couple of matches. But Salt is mainly for T20.

Brooks out

That is a surprise. He can bowl too albeit dibbly dobbly stuff.  Livingstone as a part time leggie/offie will bring more to the table. They have too many seamers including Stokes. 6 of them. Woakes/Stokes/Willey/Topley/ Curran/Wood. Why do they need Willey and Topley both together. They could dispense with one seamer and include Brook.

Don't understand their obsession with Malan. Surprised to see Brook out.

Malan is like Mandeep Singh no body likes him but he will always be not just picked by one or the other franchises but also gets picked in playing xi.

Check his record in the last couple of years. He is their best option in the top order and a left-hander to boot.

Only good thing is he's left hander. Brook and Root offer more otherwise.

And that's very important. Since 2021, the white balls have been swinging a lot more upfront. Malan has scored tons in difficult conditions in this period. Brook is not ready to play in the top order

Brook has a 100 in 41 balls. Not sure if they will find him a last minute spot

They should bring him in and bat him at 4, Stokes at 5 and Buttler at 6.

There's no need for both Willey and Curran in that squad. Curran can operate in the death as well as in other phases so he should be selected imo and they are way too similar otherwise.

Malan

Bairstow  (back up keeper)

Roy (spare opener)

Root   (6th bowler)

Brook (7th bowler if necessary)

Stokes

Buttler

Livingston (spare MO batter)

Curran  (bowling AR)

Woakes  (bowling AR)

Moeen (spare AR at 7)

Rashid

Wood

Toppley

Atkinson (spare bowler)

That squad is a lot more balanced.

Way too many seamers for Indian conditions.

I mean they can drop a seamer and bring in Brook

yes this Atkinson guy has been picked without any experience. Weird move.
