No. Each rapid/blitz round, each player gets turns white and black..whoever leads the rapid round after the 2 games, the match stops and the leader is the winner. If there is no clear winner after 2 rapid games, it goes the next series of rapid and blitz games ..with the same rules Edited August 23 by rangeelaraja Under_Score

This gives both ample time to rest and fight it out today during the tie breaks.

Lone Wolf
Magnus completes The Chess... Wins the only major title that eluded him. His End game is way too strong. Congrats to Pragg too... He has secured a spot in the upcoming Candidates & its only upwards from here.
rangeelaraja
One thing is amply clear. India has 2 potential world champions who will be around for a long time - both are 17-18 ( Gukesh, Pragg ), respectively. The important thing is for thejr game to improve from here and not get stagnant. If they can get close to 2800 level and play at that level, they will eventually become world champions. Magnus is a once in a 50 years chess talent, but he is not greater than Garry Kasparov in opinion. He was unable to defeat Karjakin and Caruana in the world championship in classical format. He had to rely on rapid tie breaks. His greatest strength is - he rarely plays a bad move - no matter how much pressure there is - which is a huge advantage in shorter formats where most players wilt. The best chance to beat him in a match is still in classical not rapid Under_Score and ravishingravi 1
vvvslaxman
As long as Velammal school exists India will keep producing GMs. That school has produced 9 GMa so far.

Literally trolling Kasparov The only contenders to GOAT are Magnus and Kasparov (Maybe Fischer for some). However I prefer Gary as lot of analysis is available nowadays. Chess is a memorisation game now unlike before. coffee_rules

Went to the sudden death blitz games. His classical record is as good (if not better) than Pragg's.
