Yep. A washout here would mean that PAK just have to beat England to qualify without NRR concerns.

Let them worry about playing us. Both are significantly weaker teams.

 

Its Afghanistan that worry me more. Not once has their batting collapsed. They scored 270+ against us. 

If they beat SA by a good margin we play them in the semis. We should pull through but they will run us close.

 

Also Afg is a difficult team to dislike.

Afg collapsed vs bangladesh of all teams, and also did poorly vs NZ. they are a weak team, and will not qualify for SF

Even if they beat SA by a big margin, there is no guarantee that PAK can't beat England byva big margin. 

 

England have had the 2nd worst batting lineup in the tournament, only better than NED. 

 

So, Afghans are kinda screwed whichever way you look at it.

Don't know about agenda. But they are 1 batter short especially since Stokes can't bowl .

 

Picking an unfit Stokes as a specialist batter has imbalanced this team and forced them to pick both Livingstone and Moeen. 

 

You can't have both of them in a lineup. 

 

And they don't have the guts to play both Brook and Stokes, Buttler at #6 and just one of Moeen/Livingstone at #7.

In hockey, Pak fans (and players, coaches) literally pray that they somehow avoid playing India, such is the fear. In fact I sometimes feel they deliberately underperform against other teams to avoid SF clash against India...every time after getting walloped in group games. 

 

Need to generate similar fear in cricket as well, many of them still too delusional and we also helped them out by losing some matches in recent years.

Plus they are not even on the same level as India. They are basically what Nepal is in cricket. They don't even qualify for World cups or Olympics. Even within Asia (which is not very good itself) they are behind Japan, Korea, Malaysia etc.

They have fans, just that they are in hiding these last few years. For them it is a convenient excuse when they lose to India, that they don't have fans, don't have facilities and what not. 

 

They were out in full force when they beat us in CT 10 years back at Kalinga. So many beatings have humbled them now.
