Should World Cup Finals be a best of 3 ?

I know gun / clutch teams always fire on the big day.

 

But at a time where we have so much gap in the games and just 1 game a day. 

 

We should change that to 2 games a day whereever it makes sense but allow a 3 games final to take out the freak day out of the equation.

Then the importance of a final will be much less. The pressure of winning the final game and taking the World Cup is what makes it more intense and more interesting to watch.

Why not end at league stage then? What's the need for knockouts?

Whenever I play with our cousins, anytime someone lose a game they'll instantly demand a best of three. And the losing party in that will demand a best of five. It would go on and on until its dark and whoever loses in the end will shout chitting chitting anyway

But do you do a best of 3 for the toss before you start the first game? And then the losing party demand a best of 5 for the toss. And this goes on ad infinitum till its dark and you all go home an decide to watch 'Anupama' ?

No but it should have IPL style playoffs given round robin format

 

So top 2 get two cracks to get to final.

Hell no....  Finals is always a one off.  It's a final for some reason.  You gotta be clutch on the day to win.  That's the whole point.

No if they play well & win 2 back to back high pressure KO games...  Beat best sides in the competition...  That team deserves the trophy.

Pak has tended to have a wood over the kiwis in big games somehow.  if they face them in semis- likely they will make it finals. 

 

And if they have a day like champions trophy 2017 final...they win.

 

They are not even a top 4 team , let alone deserving to win the world cup

Final should be one. The word says FINAL ..lol

 

No point of having 3 of these.

 

They can make something like IPL to give top two teams two cracks at it but Final should just remain 1.

However the top 2 go against each other in one of those cracks.

 

Here top team will play 4th placed which they should be able to win

 

Also in IPL style there is no incentive to top the group as long as you finish top 2.

Who decides that? Reaching semis and beating top teams in knockouts is consistent enough. Anyway more consistent than all other teams in the WC

That doesn't matter....  Any team that reaches top 4 has equal shot at the title.  That's the point. 

Theoretically India faced NZ in WC 2019 1st v 4th on the  standings...  Had the easiest draw.  Yet they failed...  No one but the team that choked is to blame. 

You got to be good enough at the business end...  Otherwise you are not deserving at all. 

WC is no bilateral.  Team that takes risks..  Plays with instinct & natural flair comes out on top.

Them reaching top 4 & winning two KO's is enough to prove that team is the best when it matters. 

That's what makes Aussies so good.  They demolish teams in KO's by bringing their A game.
