Breaking : Hardik to miss England match as well

Recommended Posts

this will bite back their asses as they didnt groom any other player who can bowl.. like iyer,tilak,jaisawal..

opposition has to target just one bowler and Indian team will be clueless..or any other injury even minor to any bowler...then just pack ur bags..playing with just 5 bowlers is so risky...

Injury does look serious. I have serious doubts about his SF availability now.:((

Correct. Ligament tear is serious. It takes a serious 2-3 months.

Madness of Indian Cricket to risk him in a SEMI and or FINAL, his tournament is over.  Imagine if he breaks down during a match?

Forget mentioning Pandya is any team selection, India need to move on.

This is why I often call Indian Cricket absolute madness. Injuries happen, you need a balanced squad to win tournaments.

I get so angry and frustrated when Indian doesnt test and use its bench in meaningless irrelevant bilateral series, instead allowing uncles to stat pad.

His tournament is over. Most likely .   This also means it's over for Ashwin and Thakur because they cannot play in a balance where they can be trusted to bowl 10 overs each.

So, India are down to 12 players.

Arre we can get reserves if Pandya injury is so bad

dude used to run like tortoise behind the ball in asia cup & even some cup games. I rationalized it as trying to avoid a freak injury before the WC, then he does this, that too against bangladesh?!

The guy is so fragile, to have stuck his leg out in that manner, he was always going to risk injury, especially given his soft tissue injuries in the past.

He should have been better educated with risk management in the field and while bowling.

If Hardik doesn't get to play last 2 games in the league stage based on early assessments, they have to bring Prasidh Krishna into the squad.

We absolutely cannot afford to play any other "allrounder" at 6.

Bumrah , Shami , Siraj, Kuldeep  will have to play all matches and we need a specialist bowler as cover. Not Shardul Thakur.

At what point do we start worrying?

Is it wise to get Pandya back in the squad after another week and have him only bat and field?

Or that spoils the balance of the side?

If he's not fully fit , he should not be out there at all.

Carrying semi fit players neither benefits the team nor the player in question .

"Fully fit" etc are phrases that are in vogue, but consider this:

This is possibly his last world cup. And he knows it and it is going to cauterize him into overcoming his injury and giving it his best, in whatever form.

Perhaps an 80% fit Pandya can save 20-30 runs fielding and add another quickfire 20-30 runs. The other all rounder alternative is Shardul. And at this stage no one is willing to repose much trust on his abilities. An 80% fit Pandya maybe a lot more match fit than a 100% fit Ro Sha/ Ashwin and so on.

Pseudo scientific/ philosophical discussion for another day: What is fully fit anyways? Is anyone fully fit or fully prepared ever?

Wo sab thik hai but that decision has to be his since if he risks injury by taking painkillers ans playing on it could jeopardize the rest of his career of he aggravates his injury.
