yeah dunno how that myth spreads. Punjabis hate Pak even more.

Anecdotal but overseas lots of punjabis prefer their punjabi roots than their indian ones. Which is again understandable really, India is such a huge agglomeration that people lose their individuality a bit and seek cultures that make them feel home. And when they see it with folks they least expect to see it from ( for an Indian seeing it in pakistani) they expresss an outpouring of affection. This is clearly seen in certain  overseas punjabi communities.

That's like Tamils loving Lankans whereas reality is different.

Corollary is Tamils loving srilankan Tamils. Lankans and Tamils are not similar people, that’s the fundamental issue in SL civil war.

It’s quite common to find punjabis preferring other punjabis from Pakistan over Indians. There is nothing wrong in it.

On topic, all this Punjabi whatever reasoning is completely stupid. For a large part of Tendulkar's era, Pakistan were a much better team than us. They looked down at us and couldn't stand that we had a batsman who had a very strong claim to bring the best in the world, even all time. Hence why everyone from Dravid to Lara to Inzy was preferred by them with stupid reasons like "he is not a match winner".

For pretty much all of Kohli's era, India have smashed Pakistan far more often than not. Stockholm syndrome. Kohli also has great PR and goes out of his way to praise Pak and Pak players and these paindoo obviously like that.

That is all there is to it. Dont think too deep, Pak thinking is not that sophisticated.

Kohli to Pakistanis is what Wasim Akram is to Indians. Sheer love for the art and greatness of the person.

When Pakistan use to hammer us back in the 90s, Indians were in the aww of Wasim Akram, we still love Wasim like our own.

Somethings are beyond borders, religion, etc.

Factually wrong.

Wasim never " hammered " India.   His record against India is modest relatively to his overall record.

Wasim joined Indian media ( ESPN ) as soon as he retired, so had to behave knowing where his bread is buttered.

Consequently he made 10X from his several stints in Indian media + IPL coaching for KKR etc...than what he did as player for KKR.

Within Pak inner cricket circles ( and now even spoken openly ) ...many players admitted that Akram fixed games.

So lets not compare any Indian legend to their cricketers.

Lankans do have a significant portion of Tamils as well (20-25%) cities like Jaffana & Colombo has significant Tamil speaking population. People in SL even understand Tamil as well to great extend.

Pakistan also has different cultures like Punjabi, Pashtuns, Sindhi who are similar on religious lines but are culturally different from each other.

While you are not wrong, Punjabis rule and dominate Pak and Pak psyche and culture. They are at the top of the food chain in that country.

Pakistaniyat is seen as Punjabiyat....we use "lahori" mindset to speak about Pak mindset, nobody uses Karachi mindset for a good reason.

You have completely missed my point, that Indians love Wasim and they still do, you are adding unrelated masala like fixing, Pakistan inner circle etc just for the sake of it.

On pure cricketing terms, I think it has originated as India & Pak Punjabi players go along very well.

Mohinder Amarnath, Madan Lal, Bhajji, Yuvi ,Sidhu, Shoaib, Abdul Qadir all have great camaraderie with Pak counterparts. Listen to their discussions and it involves a lot of out of match activities which gives the impression that they hang around post match as well.

Compare it with the discussion involving GG, Sourav, Dravid, Sachin or any other non-Punjabi cricketer...it usually goes on a different level and the discussions are usually more "to the point" & often don't involve "outside stadium" discussions. (Sehwag is an exception as he's witty even with Ashwin).

There are other outside of cricket factors as well, and then Kohli laughing hysterically with Pak crickets post 2017 CT final loss...just added fuel to the fire.

Punjabis are 65% of Pakistan. Tamils are like 10-15% of SL.

India no one dominates. I guess "Hindi" people are at 45%ish but even amongst them different people like Biharis, Rajasthanis, Himachalis etc

Like do Indian Punjabis convert when they meet Muslim Punjabis?

I heard Muslim want to convert all non Muslims to bad people

When SRT played, Pak was a decent team. In fact, in the 90s they were better overall than India which was more over-reliant on Tendu. So they used to do more bakwaas. During Kohli’s era, they have been shambolic and the bakwaas has subdued.

For my money Tendu is a class above than Kohli, although Kohli has more grit.

Tendulkar never could impose himself on Pakistani bowling even when they had ordinary bowlers where as Kohli beat them in many matches.

There is lot of hue and cry about Kohli laughing after CT 2017 loss but I find that silly reason to hate your own player.

No its not a silly reason to criticse.. youve just been thrashed in a final by an Arch rival who isnt as good as they were historically but youre more concerned about joking with them to keep up your positive PR image in Pakistan.. no sadness no remorse no heartbreak was apparent in those players Thats what the problem is. Optics matter

No it does not matter, he gives everything he got during the game. That matters most.

That is why in sports we have upsets.1983 also was an upset.

laughing with them is a crime, are you kidding me. People need to have a life.

Ok why do club footballers break down on the pitch, why do international footballers break down on the pitch after defeat in kncokouts or the final? Because it means something to them and optics to fans matters.

No one is saying you cant socialise with them, do it before or after the game in private. But when the eyes of the world and esp your fans are on YOU, then how can you disrespect that by laughing and joking as if youve just played a practice match. Do you think WI in 1983 were laughing and joking around with India after they lost, they probs were in their dressing room angry and upset about losing to a minnow.

Yes he scores runs against them and I have conceded that fact- but he also does that against others but what he does against others that he doesnt for Pakistan is his aggressive sledging and celebrations.. he is not consistent which only means he likes to keep Pakistan happy only for his PR and business interests
