This is the same that Kohli fans say about 50 centuries etc.

Let us see the test series wins in NZ/SA/Aus(when full team plays) and ICC trophies.... until then its just numbers on the bowling side instead of the batting side.

bumrah contributed in 2021 BGT which was a full side team.

Er.... he is not. You may like him but that does not make facts.

1) SA - We have never won or drawn a test series against SA since Bumrah started playing. He did bowl well in a dead series that SA had already won 2-0 in his first try. Second series he bowled well in first match(5 wkts) but Shami bowled better(8 wkts). We still lost that series.

2) England - We have never won a series in England since Bumrah started playing. Lost 4-1 and drew 2-2. In the 2-2 series in the two matches  India won Bumrah had 4 wickets in each match. Siraj had 8 in one and Umesh Yadav had 6 in the other.

3) NZ - India has never won a match never mind a series playing against NZ in NZ since Bumrah started playing tests.

Never mind his performance of zip wickets in WTC vs NZ

4) Aus - Bumrah certainly bowled well in the first Aus series we won where they played minus Smith and Warner. Was MoM in second win there. His contribution in the second more memorable series was certainly not as much as Siraj. One win he had 6 wickets and Siraj 5, second Gabba match we won he did not play where Siraj had 6 wickets and Thakur 7.

Compare to Zaheer Khan.

1) Eng  - 2007 India won test series vs England 1-0 and Zaheer was MoM with 9 wickets in the match we won.

2) NZ - 2008/09 India won test series vs NZ 1-0. Zaheer had 3 wickets in the won match, Hero Harbhajan had 7.

3) SA - 2010/11 India drew series with SA 1-1. In the match we won Zaheer had 6 wickets. Reason I point out the drawn series in SA is that is the only one drawn. All others were lost.

So Bumrah is not..."greatest match winner".

1. In the second SA series bumrah also bowled well in 3rd match. Batsmen didnt make runs.

2. 2-2 England don't go by number of wickets. Bumrah was the best bowler in both Lords and Oval 2nd innings.  Lords he took the first wicket, took out Root and then got Robinson with the slower ball when the partnership was developing. Oval his spell broke the English middle order. Also was best bowler in the 1st match but rain saved England.

3. In NZ Bumrah only played 2 tests after coming back from injury. Was good in 2nd match. Batsmen **** the bed.

4. 2nd series in MCG his performance was better than Siraj. Took the early wickets in the 1st innings and then took out Smith in the 2nd. SCG also bowled better than Siraj (who was expensive) and kept Aus to a lowish total in the 1st innings so we could draw that match and subsequently win the series.

NZ 2008/09 was a super weak team. SL, Pak etc had defeated them.

Ok he is not the biggest problem.... However one wonders. He went missing in the WC SF but Shami bailed him out... fine not everyday can one play well. Then the final was very underwhelming too. Smith was not even out and Marsh played a whatever shot.

The WTC with NZ was  another less than underwhelming performance.

I am in the minority but we have not been winning much with Bumrah when the crunch time comes. I agree fast bowlers cannot perform all the time - but the main strike bowler on big stage matches cannot lay an egg. Teams don't recover from things like that. WTC zero wickets, Root/Bairstow partnership, WC SF performance, WC Final performance, Pak WC T20 match with 10 wicket defeat..... It is becoming a pattern.

WC Final he was good. What else do you expect when defending 240?

Pak WorldT20 was a group stage match. If we are including those include his entire 2019 and 2023 group stages, including the Pak one where he was MoM.

Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur need T20I caps soon. Thakur didnt play SMAT but has started VH well. Good death bowlers.

There is a problem of format confusion. Mukesh has done well tbf to him, but does not have a good T20 record. Clearly Prasidh isnt but he has a good FC record. Avesh has fared better in T20s but still... feel like there are better options- Kaverappa has done well in T20 domestics too.

See this is what  fans do...... Siraj got the ball as 5th bowler in 27th over behind Bumrah, Umesh, Jadeja, Ashwin. It was Siraj's debut. 27th over for a pace bowler with ball having lost its shine and still Siraj did his thing.

Now Bumrah got 1 early wicket( hapless Joe Burns) ..... where did the plural early wickets come from?

By the sixth wicket it was Bumrah 2(Burns, Head) and Siraj 2 (Labuschgne, Green).

Anyway....you think he is great. I think he is okay but no Marshall/McGrath for me.

2/43 off 9 overs  with one bat fortunately given out is.....a match losing performance for match winner bowler especially defending 240.

My " dream " " attack ".

Well lets see what Jaspreet "Michael Holding" Bumrah and Mohammed "Andy Roberts" Shami do.....

You know they will be there with Dravid. Track record is 0 i.e zero ICC trophies and counting.....

Yes one can make an argument that Bumrah isn't winning us these KOs but who else is? we have been chronically underperforming in these KOs as a team.

the fact is bumrah is walking into our t20wc team, it certainly ins't a skill gap for bumrah. the team as whole needs to come up with better planning & state of mind in the Ko games.

Shami is usually not preferred for T20Is.  Was a last moment pick last time, with Bumrah unavailable.

Completely agreed. I am not saying drop Bumrah.

I just don't know we can win with him any ICC trophies.

As for who else is and the blame on the team. Well... one has to expect the most worshipped Indian player here - Bumrah - to cop his share of the blame. I don't want to play a game of when Bumrah does well it is his credit but when Bumrah does badly it is the team's fault.

Apologies guys for being a negative Nancy.

I just don't see us winning much in LOI cricket with Rohit, Kohli, Ashwin, Jadeja, Bumrah, Shami. I just don't.

There is something about this crowd.... it is not working. Remember this tourney was in India.

Now add in Dravid and it gets hopeless.

Now maybe  Jaiswal/Rinku/Pant/Tyagi/Sen may brighten things but let us see what happens.

If Rohit & Kohli both are in for WT20 with Dravid as coach, I see the same ODI final batting line-up playing in T20's. All those Rinku's & Jaiswal's will warm the bench.

Rohit, Gill, Virat, SKY, KL, Pandya is the top 6...

Only moveable asset here is Gill, KL is toooo close to Dravid.

Arshdeep Bumrah Mukesh Avesh

Old man Shami and cry baby Siraj and T20 god D Chahar as fillers.

this is what you’re gonna get:hysterical:

It is what it is.

The bowlers will be Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Jadeja +

Kuldeep at Port of Spain or Georgetown Guyana and Prasidh or Chahar in the other Windies locations.

Maybe Shami replaced by a T20 specialist (whatever that means).

In BCCI terms...it means a bowler who can either bowl 24 types of slower ones...or will bowl wide knuckle deliveries to stay out of batters arc.

I would pick these in 15 member squad with the first 3 in playing XI.

Bumrah
Pandya
Chahar

Thakur
Siraj

Basically want all fast bowlers to contribute in batting as well ( except Bumrah) so Siraj is just  backup for Bumrah.
