Players waiting, stalling, making excuses to be ready for IPL.

Recommended Posts

I am not saying if it's their personal decision or BCCI or the franchises but there is a clear pattern and it's about time Indians fans wake up instead of playing dumb. It's clear Indian cricket prioritises IPL and all below players are prioritising or being forced to prioritise IPL over tests.

1) Kohli - there was enough time to come back for couple of tests or leave after first two. Will be back for the IPL.

2) Bumrah - Rested in a critical match with series tied 1-1, allowed root to come to form on a difficult pitch. Will play every IPL game.

3) Iyer - skipped domestic but will be fine for IPL

4) Ishan - ditto as above

5) KL Rahul - mysterious injury kept getting extended till he has missed entire series. He will be back for IPL.

6) Anyone remember how we rushed back from England tour when we were 2-1 up with momentum just before IPL? And then when we went back we lost and drew 2-1?

7) We have huge superstars like Pandya who are worshipped and coveted by powerful people like Ambani while barely playing international. He plays more IPL than international. He will never play a test again. Yet he is one of the most recognised names in media and one of the richest. People like Iyer and ishan clearly want to follow him.

All I am saying is, let's not be so gullible and so passionate when the players and board are not. We can burn our blood about tests and selections but it's IPL which takes priority for all. And it's the reality.

Young players like jaiswal are only going  to learn this lesson from their seniors. We fighting with new youngsters every tough series miraculously like Aus away series or this England series is not unfortunate or coincidence, this will happen again and again and again.

So what is the problem. If jaiswal does not want to play test cricket in future there will be someone else.

As long as public cares about test cricket, there will be test cricket.BCCI has its flaws but imo it is trying its best to keep all formats healthy.

IPL >>> Tests for most people, barring the Eng.

because england and aussie can afford to do that. they get paid very well for test cricket. top players get 1 to 2 mil a year

contracts i mean

whereas other players have to play ipl to earn that much or more.

Just one correction, India were 2-1 up when Bumrah was rested.

Because there are fanboys who genuinely believe family emergencies and injuries magically only happen during test series and worship those players.

There should be difference between players like Ashwin who ran back despite a true emergency or Shami who is genuinely injured vs those superstars who skip tests and then are magically available for IPL.

Why are you hung up on the reason why they have not played.

Your need to calm down. It doesn’t matter if guy like Kohli today and Jaiswal in next ten years don’t play test cricket. There will be more players who are hungry to play.

Most people are fans of India not players.Players like Kohli and Sachin come and go  but fans remain cheering for Team India.

Deepak Cahar is the biggest flaker

Don't care about Chahar as long as he is kept away from Indian team. There are many players who show up only for IPL.

The annoying flakers are the ones who think they can just waltz into the Indian squad at will.. Like KL and Shreyas
