I think they lost more home test series. Only aus beat them 3 time in 2006,2009& 2014. Eng also beat them  in 2005. 3 draw series. 1 with aus in 11, one with ind in 10 and one with eng in 2009/10

Thats quite bad tbh despite good record away.

Indian team post 2013 have been ruthless at home.

What an accomplishment it has been. Yet, instead of celebrations, there's a barrage of complaints and abuses directed at many players. For anyone new to following cricket, a visit to the forum might give them the impression that Indian cricket is in dire straits. The prevailing sentiment seems to be that the BCCI is ineffective, the coaches lack knowledge, and the players are only interested in the IPL and chasing after money, all under the guise of being 'opinionated'—quite amusing, really.

Not winning an ICC trophy remains the only significant shortcoming in what has been an otherwise remarkable last 13-14 years for Indian cricket. This, however, does not diminish the multitude of achievements, especially in Test cricket, during this period. We've faced thrashings in England and Australia during a period of generational transition in 2011-13, but it took us just a few years to bounce back stronger. As we approach another transition phase with players like Ishant, Pujara, Rahane, Umesh, and soon Rohit, Kohli, Ashwin, and Shami, there are promising signs that the next generation will surpass these already impressive achievements.

Very well said. IMO to win ICC trophy you need some luck too.Hope the new generation brings that luck.

Even the GOAT Aussies or WI teams couldn't keep winning at home this consistently.

Ok but Oz were unbeaten for 28 series at home, WI were unbeaten for 29 series overall across 14 years - home+away. WI also didn't lose a home series for 22(21?) years. While our record is good for its time we still have some ways to go to match the best home teams ever.

Considering how bad our batting was for a period of 3 years maintaining this record is an incredible achievement. Axar stepped up with bat in one series. Ashwin and Jaddu in another series. Sundar and Kuldeep also contributed.  This all round skill of spinners saved us massively.

But at home drawing a series is not an achievement.

Against good/great teams it is - the WI side during mid 90's was also a very very good test side & still unbeaten till Oz beat them away(home?) in 94/95 or so. Oz were not exactly ATG material at that time. It's in some ways similar to Ind vs SA in 2015, except SA basically went AWOL after Steyn injured himself in the first test. Could've been an epic series if Steyn was fit & Bangalore game wasn't washed out.

India’s home domination is unlike any other team.

Australians with their greatest batting talent could not overcome the loss  of McGrath and Warne against a pretty weak India bowling attack in 2003 series. They would have lost that series if not to one guy Bucknor.

India has to replicate this domination away from home to be called greatest team but at home they have been the best team in history for a decade.

Great stat, with contributions from many ex players over the years like Vijay, Dhawan, Pujara, Bhuvi, Umesh, Saha, Rahane. And of course Kohli, Jadeja and Bumrah in the last couple of years.

But if we have to choose one MVP out of this, it is definitely Ashwin.

Doesn't even have to be pointed out cos the world knows who is behind it.

Thats his legacy.

Honestly this England team were the closest to defeating india.

2027 Aussies will have zampa as spinner. Marnus will anchor the batting.

That was Aus 2017.

We were hanging by a thread and if Lyon had delivered a sucker punch in Bangalore 2nd innings at the right time...it was game over.

Not saying we are close to those goat teams but in a way 15-20 years from now, people will remember this era as an era of ruthless home domination.

From 2015 onwards, India have been by far the best test team in the past 9 years.

The W/L ratio is 2.6

A lot of the credit goes to captains, Kohli and Rohit for leading the side and ofcourse the consistent domination by our bowlers, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Siraj.

Additionally, credit goes to Pujara for the home dominance as well and Rahane for that memorable series he led India in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. Pant was superb during his span of 3-4 years and Rahul has played his part too in overseas conditions.
