Walsh and Pollock were faaaaaaaaaaaaar better than Andy and Ashwin is more of  Lillee than Andy - actually stellar performances on friendly pitches, unlike Andy

Pollock failed in aus a lot though. The one great team he had to face. Wasn't that great in west tindies either from memory. 

I cant rate him above Andy. 

 

He lived off donald mostly too. 

I would say on par with Andy.

Failing vs one great team vs failing in the backyard of pretty much every good team and being absolute dogshit for the first 8 years of your career that you'd not even make bengal XI. take your pick. 
Walsh, unlike Pollock & Andy singlehandedly demolished us at home- and while we were not an ATG batting side, any kid who's seen Manjrekar, Azhar, Tendulkar & Sidhu play in India should know how formidable this batting lineup is in India vs anyone .

Yes, well when you have a 140 year old sport, you are going to have periods in the past that are far better than in the future. i dunno why that is difficult to conceptualize for you kids. 

the best batsmen are from the 80s and 90s. the best bowlers are from 80s-2000s. thats not an inconceivable thing. 

 

Also, what dale said is called being polite on the retirement ceremony of a dude who's only great quality is longetivity.
