There's still time to make changes before the Aussie game and knockouts. Bring in Jaiswal and maybe niggle out Jadeja or Chahal to bring in Rinku. Please don't waste this prime Bumrah. That guy's the best bowler on the planet by a distance and deserves better support from the so called "seniors"

I get coolie and fat ro as the dumb casuals want to see them

But why jadeja???

If Jaiswal comes in and "King" Kohli drops to 3, which is not likely to happen given the history of Kohli's selfishness, Pant should bat at 4. He has done so in IPL and still has time to get set. 5 is too low for him and SKY would be a better fit. Ideally, we should've Jaiswal and Abhishek as openers and Rinku & Parag in the middle overs. But these over the hill TTFs are ruining one more tourney for us.

Sky is the only T20 specialist kind of batter in the team , why would give him fewer balls to play, that's why when you donot pick right player for right formats your options are limited.

If they want Rohit and Kolhi in top 3 and Sky at 4 then Pant should open this is the only solution/quick fix, else play with mind set of 2 down with 25-30 runs in ~4 overs

Sky has 4 centuries at no.3/4 playing him at 5 will not serve the purpose, his is not power hitter but some1 who uses the pace and play in unconventional areas to fetch runs, this is why it didnt work out so well for him in ODIs his batting style does not suite playing with oldish ball.

Yes Jaiswal and Abhishek  in top 3 will be great slot in a WK then you have a template for T20 batting line-up --an allrounder and a wk in top 3 this is what you need in t20s

Then a sacrificial #4 who could give quick 30-40 and even if #4 fails you have 2/3 batter coming down the order.

Think they didnt try to use Jaiswal's bowling is because they did not want to create competion for Rohit, Kolhi and KL.

Can't understand the love for Jadeja and Chahal. They feature in every tourney without any performance. As for Rohit and Kohli, they haven't done anything other than stats-padding with zero impact. But there are Kohli bhakats around even on this forum who think India reached knockouts due to Kohli :hysterical:

Maybe they'll get over the delusions seeing that India will pretty much get to the knockouts given there're barely 3-4 strong teams and beating others is not really a big deal and others can do the same as this tourney has showed. You can replace Kohli with an u-19 player here and we'll still get to the knockouts and probably get better performances.

Kohli is not an opener, this terrible idea needs to be nixed next game.

Who'll do the nixing? That fatso Rohit who himself doesn't deserve to be in the team, or that modern day "chanakya" Dravid, whose ming-games resulted in pitch tampering in the WC2023 final? The truth is they don't really care.

Get ready for some more "one bad day", "30 mins of poor play", "we have nothing to prove" kind of comments after the inevitable loss in knockouts.

The problem we're saddled with is that we have to live with these constraints of fitting in Rohit & Kohli in the team. It's like playing with one hand tied behind the back but you can't do anything. In an ideal world our team would be as follows...

Jaiswal

Abhishek

Pant

SKY

Parag

Rinku

Pandya

And probably othe rall-rounders like Venky Iyer or Nitish Reddy etc.in the mix. This lineup has no consolidators and can go for it just like Aus or Eng. But now we've to use up 4 of these spots to include TTFs like Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja etc. Our Aus series win in 2020-21 proved that youngsters can do things which our TTF seniors can't but yet here we are. No wonder we won our only T20 cup when we went with youngsters in 2007.

Also our last CT in 2013. Dhawan Rohit Kohli Raina Jadeja Ashwin were all young and raring to go. MSD shrewdly got rid of Gambhir Tendulkar Sehwag citing they cant run this and that , only 2/3 should play etc in 2012 aus cb series.. in 2013 ct he got Dhawan n rohit to open and probably india were the best white ball side till 2019 .. winning the CT, going to the 2014 wt20 finals ( where another oldie Yuvi screwed us) and reaching wc 2015 sf unbeaten..then reaching 2016 wt20 SF, CT final 2017, WC SF 2019. heavily consistent though not in the ko games..

Kohli’s innings was key today

brings me back to the mid 90s, when little known ramesh kaluwithrana would open with jayasurya, tonk a run-a-ball 20 and the comms would go crazy at how he's given the team the boost it needs.

Everytime we've backed youngsters, we've won....

1. After the WC2007 disaster, we sent a young Indian team to inaugural WT20 tourney under a new captain and we won.

2. After the failure in Aaney Do series against Pak, we cleaned house and let Sehwag, Gambhir etc. go, and won the CT2013 with a young team.

3. In 2020-21 series in Aus, we were stuck with a young team due to injuries and Kohli coming back, and yet we beat Aus in Aus in a Test series. This is the toughest assignment in cricket, i.e. winning Test series in Aus and our youngsters did it.

And yet here we are carrying over the hill oldies like Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja, Chahal etc. The above examples show that we have enough talent to compete and our youngsters can make the difference if given a chance. Jaiswal was our best batsman against Eng in Tests and out-bazballed English batsmen. Abhishek went toe-to-toe with Head in IPL scoring 20 ball 50s and 12 ball 30s, and Parag has shown he's a pretty decent middle order batsman in T20s in both SMA and IPL, and yet here we are carrying oldies instead of youngsters. We didn't even pick Rinku who's actually performed in intl!

I would back Pant. The guy is fearless and has the right attitude. Always back players like him. Else go with Jurel - another player with the right attitude & approach.

Sad reality. They bring in the most eyeballs

People will come and watch if you win something as well. IIRC when we won WT20 in 2007 with newbies. They had an open bus parade and were talk of the town. It's cricket we're talking about. Play any player in a world tourney, and people will watch.

Watching Warner-Head and Buttler-Salt  bat in Powerplays, you feel as if you're watching a different sport altogether when you see Rohit-Kohli bat :(( This is so phuckn unfair as we could've had Abhishek-Jaiswal as the opening pair if we had selectors with balls.

biggest dead weights in the team and have been for years....

i've said for 5 years that rohit is a flop and flat track bullyyy who doesnt deserve a spot in team let alone captian....

The most criminal part is trying to convert Kohli into an opener and blocking a youngster like Jaiswal. The same Jaiswal who's in such great touch and out-bazballed Eng in Tests. He hammered 26 6s in a Test series - more than the entire Eng team. And as a result he gets dropped as "King" kohli expressed the desire o  become an opener.

This is like Australia opening with Steve Smith and Labushagne.

Or England with Joe Root and Alistair Cook lol.

Other leading teams have moved so far ahead with specialisation and innovations in this format. While we are stuck with these 2010 style consolidation merchants.
