All the limelight has been given to Bumrah, Pandya and our pacers, and rightly so! They were the main reasons for us winning the WC. But Axar Patel deserves a lot of kudos as well. I was never a fan of Axar as I didn't think he was good enough with the bat or the ball. But he was a revelation and our third most important player after Bumrah and Pandya, and probably alongside Arshdeep.

He showed up in all the big moments when the going was tough. He scored runs when he was promoted up the order against Pak, he scored quick runs against Eng in semis, and in the final he out-batted Kohli when they were together. If not for his brain-fart while running between the wkts, he could very well have helped us out-bat SA the way he was batting.

With the ball he was pretty good in the power play and took important wkts. He played like a true all-rounder and not like a "bits and pieces" player. Axar is what the team management and selectors hoped Jadeja would be. We really wouldn't have won the tourney without Axar and what a performance! Axar, you were amazing and showed you can handle pressure! :hail:

Him and Pandya batted better than Kohli and Dube and bowled better than Jadeja and Siraj in this World T20

Real world class allrounders in this tournament.

We essentially got 4 players in 2.

Literal cheat codes.

They were the reasons we won the tourney. And showed why good all-rounders are so highly rated and needed in the team. Without them we would be a poorer version of SA.

Yep.  We were literally playing with 8 players with no shows from Kohli and Dube and specialist fielder Jadeja .

They made sure that we felt like we were playing with at least 10 players.

Guy was man of the match in the semis :hatsoff:

Should have been batting above Dube all tournament, but happy it happened in the finals

His batting in the final when he came in at 34/3 and the composure he showed was outstanding. Plus he also showed up in the semis. As I said Bumrah, Pandya and Axar are the biggest reasons for our win :hatsoff:

Axar, Bumrah and Pandya sure did paper over a lot of cracks.

I was looking at axars over where he gets hit by Klassen..I dnt think he bowled badly that over..it's just klassen decided to target him and he could have as well got a wicket..I am but worried about Kuldeep on flat pitches in knockouts..he has been ineffective in crunch games..2019 wc against england, 2023 wc final and this world cup final..sometimes its dew or ground conditions...he is still a gun bowler and better than many but needs to improve some defensive skills when the batsman is going after him

Nailed it about Kuldeep. Have seen enough from him over the years toknow that just like Chahal he's good enough in group stages but doesn't have it in him to make a difference in crucial matches/knockouts. I think we need to look for another spinner, and if we don't find one let's stick to likes of Axar or Abhishek as spinners.

How can I forget this! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was Axar. I thought it was SKY or some other player who caught the ball, and was shocked to see it was Axar.

So Axar was the one who was instrumental in us beating Aus, Eng, and SA! :hail:

His 15 th over could have lost us the match though.  I wonder if people would be kind to him if we lost. Although I agree he contributed quite a bit.

No, but the win sweeps over everything. Just like people still can't get over the no ball from you know who in 2017 or that Zaheer meltdown in 2003

Did he bowl badly though..he was trying different things..unlike say starc who was feeding the same on length balls..lets just say when a batsman decide to hit every ball out of the park..you either get him out or he hits you out .life is tough as a spinner on such a track.
