We have had too much of the Mickey mouse format now, the main event this year is yet to come, the upcoming BGT series is the most prestigious tournament in the next 4 years.
Possible squad for BG trophy looks amazing, our team is filled with stroke makers who are especially good against Pace and Bounce, Bumrah is as good as he has ever been and the bowling looks quite sorted.

Rohit - Showed his capability in t20 wc and the test series vs England too, pace and bounce doesnt trouble him much, should do well this time around.

Jaiswal - Our best Young Talent and a proper strokemaker who is great against pacers and already showed his prowess vs Eng
Gill - I know he has not been consistent, but we all know what he is capable of .
Kohli - ICC Cricketer of the decade, nuff said
Kl Rahul/ Khan - we all know he can be inconsistent but he has game for all conditions, also scored a century in SA last year.
Pant - Our best match winner in tests
Sundar/Jadeja
Kuldeep/Ashwin
Harshit Rana/ AkashDeep

Jasprit Bumrah
Shami/Siraj

The last time we won a test series there, our squad was weakened with most of the players injured, this time around we can actually dominate Aussies.

Pakistan with 0 world class bowlers gave Australia a good competition (yes I know the scoreline was 3-0).

I think we are favourites to win this time and I predict 3-2 to India.

Possible squad:
Batsman
Rohit
Jaiswal
Gill
Kohli
KL Rahul

Sarfaraz Khan

Wk bat
Pant
Jurel

Allrounders
Jadeja
Sundar
Ashwin

Spinner
Kuldeep Yadav

Pacers
Bumrah
Siraj
Shami
Akashdeep

Harshit Rana

What do you think about our chances, is this our best ever squad to Aus?
If not then which one was our best squad to Aus?

Its the matter of only one player. The 11 is set

Rohit

Jaiswal

Gill

kohli

kl rahul

Pant

Jadeja

Xxxx ( in Sydney it ll be Ashwin)

Bumrah

Shami

Siraj

for the 4 tests we need a bowling all rounder. Amer Jamal was a revelation for Pakistan whatever we might say.

Options are

Rana ( but he hasnt even been picked)

Thakur Saab ( he has had a surgery)

Sundar ( better to play ashwin if we play him as ashwin can take care of head)

Nitish Reddy : too early

Axar: no chance as we have jadeja

Its going to be a major concern that no 8. In Australia you need someone to do the donkeys work as its hot and before new ball is taken we need someone who can bowl those 4/5 overs of medium pace, like aus have marsh and green. Thats why irfan pathan and gangulys of the world or hardik pandya was so important.

5 of top 7 all have SENA centuries except Jaiswal who has a century in windies om debut and Gill a 92 in aus. So no excuses in terms of experience. We need to bloody win some good tosses.

Nitish Reddy most definitely for Perth.

He will likely only bowl 10 overs max in a inns as a 4 pacer. Bulk will be done by Trio + Jadeja if needed.

4th pacer who could barely bat is a liability in Perth.

Challenge will be the bowling depth. It's going to be a long series - 5 Tests is way too many IMO and a 4 match series should've been enough. We need Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Akash Deep, Harshit backed up by all-rounders such as Jadeja and possibly Reddy. I'm a bit concerned about Jadeja's lack of bowling form. Earlier he could bowl consistently but in the recent WT20 he struggled with his length - never seen him bowl so many short "hit me" deliveries.

Also, need to make sure we keep away likes of Avesh from the team. And for the love of god, keep KL away from the team. We've Pant and Jurel should be the backup. No need for panauti KL Rahul

And please take Bharat Arun as the bowling coach and add him to the think tank. He's one of the most under-rated coaches we ever had. Our bowling under him had the level of consistency I've never seen before, or after him. Get him into the setup ASAP.

Always poor in T20. Not worried about his Test form yet. Will be mighty important again.

But earlier his problem was that he was predictable and couldn't turn the ball on non-turning pitches. But I've never seen him struggling with his length. This WT20 I saw that. He was bowling short deliveries quite often and even struggled on pitches where in the past he would've eaten the teams alive, e.g., at Guyana against Eng in the SF. Shows that Jadeja has regressed and we may need to think of Axar replacing Jaddu in Tests.

We want our spinners - Washington, Jadeja or Axar to give us control and to give our pacers a break. Jadeja used to do that in the past but the current Jadeja may not. That's why a bit worried and hope we go with Axar or Sundar if Jadeja is past it.

If the team is fit with everyone available, it's gonna be one hell of a series! I just hope we play aggressively no matter what. My playing XI would be...

Starting XI:

Rohit

Jaiswal

Gill

Kohli

Sarfaraz

Pant

Jadeja/Washington/Axar (one with the best bowling form)

Bumrah

Shami

Siraj

Akash Deep

Others in the squad:

Jurel

Harshit Rana

Washington Sundar (if Jadeja starts)

Axar (if Jadeja starts)

Nitish Reddy (can replace an out of form bowler to give us more depth)

Any in form batsman other than KL Rahul to cover for an out of form batsman

They have scheduled the tests for max home advantage.

First test in Perth always tough, then 2nd test Adelaide D/N with 36 ao mental scars. Big chance of going to Gabba 0-2 down. MCG and SCG we will compete well but we must be in the fight till then.

We have to make sure we travel to Aus around 2 weeks before the 1st Test and have a couple of practice matches.

3. Gill

4. Kohli

5. Pant .. LHB

6. Jurel / Rahul

7. Jadeja .. LHB

8. Harshit

9. Akashdeep  /  Kuldeep ( based on pitch )

10. Bumrah

11. Shami

12. Rahul / Jurel

13. Sarfraz

14. Ashwin

15. Kuldeep / Akashdeep

16. Siraj

.... Both Harshit and Akashdeep are tall, hit the deck, low FC average pacers, ideal for Australia.  And both have batting ability. Hence both should play.

....  This team has alternating RHB and LHB

He was darting it in T20 trying to save runs. Will be better in Tests with more attacking approach. Axar doesnt seem to be a SENA Test bowler. Failed badly in 2022 WT20 too.Batting will be important too.

Perth suits our pace attack. Need batsmen to stand up.

Adelaide 36 AO was an anomaly due to pink ball. We usually do well there.

We need two spinners for Sydney. For rest of 4 matches its a luxury. If we take kuldeep then we will play Jadeja as an allrounder at 7 and Kuldeep Siraj Bumrah Shami. This option is good for Sydney but not for perth Brisbane. In those two places we need 4 seamers. We had nattu navdeep siraj thakur in 2021 brisbane. Saving grace was thakurs batting and he took 7 wickets. We need someone like him. Our batting line up should be till 8 or else starc will eat the tailenders up. Exactly same thing happened in 2014 Brisbane where we faltered after a strong start as tailenders got blown away.
