CT is a very important trophy for me, have seen some memorable matches there which I remember more than t20s.

its not a one off. Its a final of 2 year tourney. Like all ICC tourneys. Its the pressure that comes with knockouts that matters.

 

BGT is already done twice. One extra Test doesnt mean anything.

Except it's not a "tournament" - ICC is just riding the coattails of the Indian team & just making money of that one off test by hosting it under their banner in a "neutral" venue! Test series have been going on even without ICC for nearly 150 years now

It does - what was the difference between end of the tour of Eng 2021 (away) & what followed a year later? The last 1-2% of anything is exponentially harder to achieve 

More than aus I want to butcher eng every time we play them. We often beat them in bilaterals in odi and t20. In tests we often thrash them but we need a series win there. Draw is possibly but I want us to obliterate them and make them cry more than aus. Deep hatred toward pom fans compared to Oz who are much better.

So have been bilateral ODIs before WC was introduced. It is a tourney to decide top team among all teams instead of just bilaterals. India is not gauranteed to make that 'one off' Test so how do ICC make money of India?

That was a broken series. If 5th Test was played in 2021 we'd have won. OTOH if series was broken even after 2 Tests, result would have been different. England underwent a complete change in the intervening period, including new captain.

India is guaranteed to make it - if they don't, like 2007 debacle, I'll bet you a horse they scrap teh WTC or change the format entirely to make sure we make it to the finals!

That's the point, winning series is generally harder than a one off test - the last time Oz lost a 5 test series was back in 2010/11 vs Eng & before that 1992/93 vs WI. They are extremely rare & much harder to win because home sides can eventually make a comeback in the fifth test.

We lost the 'one off' Test in England while did well in series in 2021.

 

Both teams make comebacks in long series. Infact its the away that gets used to the conditions more which is tough in 1st Test.

And that's why the "WTC" is a joke - it's not any tournament because there's absolutely no standards on how many matches one team must play during the 2 year cycle, no minimum number of away or home tests!

There is a schedule of who plays who and where. Points are allocated on series results.

That way even 4 matches is difficult. Teams have to comeback. In Aus and Eng 2021, it was India on top after 4 Tests and if 5th was there, India would have had all the momentum.

There's no schedule. The test series are arranged on an adhoc basis by respective boards. The last NZ vs Eng series in NZ wasn't part of the WTC IIRC. Out of the 12 full test members only 9 qualify for the "WTC" - that is not a tournament as far as I'm concerned.

I always like beating Aus in Aus but WTC we have reached 2 times in final so want to win it this time..non Asian conditions makes it satisfying as well..
