Seedings don't seem to matter that much till now. Even that Cuban SF opponent of Vinesh is unseeded. 

Mongolian lady in the next match is the 2nd seed. She got a forfeit in the first match - so already at a big advantage.

No, not Ukrainian. The wrestlers who were defeated by the finalist wrestlers fight for a bronze.

 

A beats B in R16

A beats C in QF

A beats D in SF

 

Then one of the bronze medal matches is betwen 

(B vs C) vs D.

But system is different. 

 

Whoever the finalists have beaten en route to finals, those beaten athletes fight for bronze. The losing R16 girl will play losing QF girl. Winner of that will play losing SF girl. Whoever wins that gets bronze. One bronze on each half of the draw. 

 

That is why if you lose in wretsling, better lose to a beast who goes all the way to the final. Then you'll get extra shot at medal, that's how Sushil got his bronze in 2008, Yogeshwar in 2012, Sakshi in 2016, Bajrang in 2021. 

 

You could have simplified it by saying they follow repechage system anyway its done to equalize any draw disadvantages. its a good thing but isnt it too much for a contact sport.

Well I am 100 kg but a pro wrestler even the sub 74 kg men can lift guys over 110 kg to 120 kg and dump them on the head. 

 

People don't realize how strong Olympic wrestlers/national level wrestlers are. 

 

I have seen a 74 kg state champ throw a 120 to 130 kg like a ragdoll. 

 

And also if they are weighing in at 74, they actually rehydrate back to 80 to 83 kg on match day.

Yes it is but unlike boxing less chance of concussions in wrestling.

 

You can have 3 wrestling bouts per day but in boxing every match is followed by at least 2 rest days.

It's pretty amazing. They have the rock climbing and speed climbing. Then they have a course that you keep climbing - highest gets medals. Another amazing sport to watch. Got into it watching American Ninja Warrior. Usually these rock climbing types do really well there.
