I understand Pak fans holding the Miandad 6 dear, but even we have hyped it a lot. still don’t get what the big deal was in some random/obscure match.  The hype is like India was like Bangladesh in the 80s and 90s and Pak was like Australia/Wi . We beat them in 3 wc games in 90s, beat them in Sahara cup, won wc and World Series in 1983 and 1985. Maybe they had a better team man to man but we many times help their propaganda.

Coming to topic, for Indians our wrestlers are at their best in mid to late 20s. If I have to give a range, then 23-29 seems to be the sweet spot where we peak in wrestling. Our shooters in comparison are world class at a much younger age. 

 

Our initiation to wrestling is in akharas which are mud based, transition to wrestling mats at an advanced age (comparing with USA, Japan or Russia). Also we don't have anything like high school or D1 wrestling. 

 

Antim will be at her best in LA and Brisbane.

You can pick from the bottom of the barrel. Not every African manages to make it to Europe or the Gulf. There are still plenty to pick from even if you look beyond the top few rungs. 

My suggestion wasn't completely serious though I must admit, it's not impossible.

While that might be true the larger point is if we really need to give citizenships we don’t need to give it out for some random medal which there is no guarantee we will win or not . Let’s implement CAA first:

Best of Africa will go to Europe and North America. Next tier to Gulf countries. Their worst may or may not choose India.

Whats political about this? She lost based on the rules. It’s fair or unfair something we need to take up with olympic committee. Also I feel the male boxer had it way worse but seems he has no politcal lobby. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is within rules.

I don't think we need to do import anyone from Africa to show case that we have won some gold medals.

 

India is big enough country, they need to develop their own athletes who can win at world stage. If it takes another 20 years so be it.

 

IMO even if they are willing to come to India we don't need Mo Farahs to feel good about ourselves.

Thanks dude! In cricket we mostly exorcised the demons of the past. 

 

But we need consistent success in Olympics, at least a few medals.  I thought we would win 9 for sure and 12 if things go well.

Exactly. It's the mard-e-momin complex on that side and folks from our side have helped to glorify it further.

 

It was the same team that restricted Pakistan to 87 when the target was mere 125. 

There is that match where Rajesh Chouhan hit a six in the last over.

The Independence cup final when we chased 314 and Kanitkar hit a four in the last or second last ball.

Ganguly singled handedly getting better of (both bat and ball) Pakistan in 4 matches in single edition of Sahara Cup.

 

You will never hear Pakistan talking about these and they conveniently brush these instances.

She competes in 53 kg but they held trials on same day as 50 kg. So she couldnt qualify.

 

those chomus should have held trials on different days so she could tailor body weight accordingly

This is a disaster in our campaign
