Wish we had proper trainers for judo and kicking. Lots of medals to win there. 

Every kid in my neighborhood played taekwondo/judo even my niece why aren't our kids doing well? Just not serious enough I guess just for time pass and a bit of fitness and exercise

 Although a lot of them aspire for govt jobs through sports quota, Haryanvis have the competitive zeal and look to excel in sport.

Most parents are super strict but never discourage kids from playing a sport.

 

My native is in Narnaul district and I have seen it from my grandfather's generation.

All indians play football. We are ranked 124..

Yeah not an easily accessible sport too. Badminton you can play even in streets or on roofs if you have racquets bit TT tables are too costly.

So proud to just see India in the medals tally list. Grew up in the times  where I used to read the last page of Deccan Herald just to spot our country’s name during Olympics. Now, it’s like we need more .

Shooting is an elite sport, you either have to come from an army background or rich enough to get access to shooting clubs. So very few ppl are actively pursuing this sport. To get that many medals in last 12-16 yrs is quite good.

Now we are pouring a lot of money in sports. Big business houses like Jindals, Adanis are funding top athletes. Most of it is targeted funding I believe where just top medal prospects are identified and trained by top coaches across the world in variety of conditions.

Need the Ambanis, Adanis, Tatas,etc to step up and build world class private High Performance Centers in Delhi/Mumbai focussed on specific Olympic sports in which we have potential. Our Govt sports bodies cannot ensure Quality but the private sector can.

 many parents of haryanvi wrestlers come daily with milk, ghee, dry fruits for their boys n girls training in chhatrasaal stadium in Delhi. Dedication n encouragement of parents towards sports should also be acknowledged.
