If you notice another thing, all of Nadeem's big throws were towards right side of the field while Neeraj's 89+ was towars left side of the field. Wind at times can be a big factor too, not sure if these things are assessed by the players.

I think its because of their actions. Nadeem is more open chested and throws more like an in swinger in cricket and towards the right. Chopra uses the full action and is close chested when he makes the runup and tilts all the way to his left while releasing throwing more towards center and leftish kinda like an outswinger

Arshad has been based in France and Switzerland for his training in the leadup to the Olympics, working with gora biomechanists and all.

Don't get fooled by these lack of support narratives being built by Pakistanis.

Indians are fools to fall into these sympathy stories... SM is flooded with these narratives that Neeraj gave Arshad Javelin as he couldn't afford it & no one is saying he is training in SA or France since that CWG Gold..

Pakistani only pumped money on 1 athelete & that was Arshad.

Either way Neeraj is saying that there is still something extra left in him & he isn't 100% yet so let's see how long until he breaches 90-91m+

I don't track his quickest ball as I do for neerajs throws so I will take your word.

The difference however is, neeraj always and even today said that he has it in him and expects himself to break 90 m, bumrah doesn't say so for 160 kmph or 100 mph.

Why this apple vs orange comparison? In Javelin, you need to cross 90 m barrier to be successfully. That is a benchmark/ basically a safe score. However, one doesn't need to bowl at 100 mph to be successful. You just have to outfox the batsman.

Consistency in an event like javelin is tough.

Vetter used to throw 95m, Anderson Peters has so many 90+ throws, never won Olympic gold or enjoyed sustained success.

Valdejch was the best thrower in 2024 before the Olympics, Weber was another top medal prospect. Both didn't medal.

It is amazing to see what Neeraj has achieved. Back to back gold and silver in Olympics, yet some ungrateful retarded Indians are mocking him, downplaying him. Guy has won everything worth winning in this sport, like Djokovic he has a complete resume in his sport, none, I repeat none of the other javelin throwers among his peers has that. This is the Neeraj era.

Same bunch of ICFers will tolerate years and years of flop shows by their favorite cricketers in ICC KOs but how dare Neeraj get silver in an Olympics by throwing his season's best, despite carrying a niggle?

Yeah these ICFers are probably couch potatoes themselves. They don't know how hard these non-cricket sports are in India. Yesterday, Harmanpreet made a simple request to fans when asked what message he would like to give to the fans. It is to keep up the support as they ahve done this olympics. You wouldn't hear Kohli be thankful and make this urge because he is a fat cat. Only those who have struggled can make such a statement.

Neeraj has made his best throw this olympics. The last few foul attempts was him trying to best Nadeem's throw. He tried and failed in his attempts. You have to praise the winning attitude. These couch potatoes with doritos in their mouths don't know that he was trying the whole time. For that they should understand how sportsmen think? I doubt that these people have played any competitve sport at all. Silver is a great thing when you know the gold winner nailed an olympic record throw and no one was even close to Nadeem or Neeraj.

Yup What Neeraj ha avhived very few atheletes in subcontinent has achieved it in Physical sports. Thing is you can throw 90+ once in a while but Neeraj is more consistent with 90 mark so there is always a possibility for him to win a medal. For Gold he will have to stretch his limit a bit just to be on safer side, but he is once in a generation talent.

Sub continent especially india etc have plenty of such people. It's the governments job to fund for sports and find such talent.

Make me talent scout and I can find tons of guys in rural India with such brute power and strength.

Not sure why there is so much debate over Neeraj. It was Nadeem's day and he deserves gold. Doesn't undermine what Neeraj has done or has achieved so far. Tip your hat and move on.

It's not like anyone else came close to 90 either. Before today it was only done once this year. Just because he is P@ki ppl are getting their pants in a twist. Let's applaud our champion and hope he goes strength to strength. We are lucky to have someone like him as our countryman.

Both are beasts.

Correct. It was nadeems day.

Neeraj is world class too. Both are great.

I think neeraj will win the next one though. He appears younger.

He will have a point to prove as well. I don't think he expected Nadeem to beat him. Next time onwards I don't think he will take him so lightly.
