Older you get more time you need to get your length right. Ashwin had suffered from this more in the past few yrs. Domestic helps from that pov even if it is against some **** teams.

Jaddu and Ashwin have more commitment than these other guys. Both turn up for domestics, sometimes Ranji, sometimes VH or SMAT competition, TNPL etc. 

 

Heck before 2021-22 England tour, Ashwin prepared by playing county games, didn't get selected for a single test but at least intent was there on his part.

 

Main reason these two have been our biggest matchwinners, they didn't lose appetite for the tough grind despite all the success and fame. Even Pujara, Rahane are committed domestic players. Kohli is playing Ranji after 12 years, even Sachin turned up for Mumbai in 2013 as a 40 year old.

From being seen as a joke in his younger days to ending his career as an equal to Kapil Dev in test cricket, most improved Indian cricketer of all time, such a hard worker !!!!! If only others could maximize their talent like Jaddu we could field 3 teams like GOAT WI/Aus.

Only cost us a Nzl whitewash at home when they didn't play Duleep trophy. Those teams/players were better than Railways and J&K. They would have played even then but still those delusions would have been exposed long back.

If Kohli/Rohit play in England, Agarkar's record of consecutive ducks (7 IIRC, all against mighty Australia) will be surpassed. Maybe that is what chief selector Agarkar secretly wants, to create a bigger joke than himself.

Tbh...this is ultra pro max embarrassment. 

Railways is one of the weakest team in Ranji elite group.

Despite then, loosing wickets in this matter is literally showing how far he has fallen.

 

I hope for his sake, he should retire from Tests and continue playinh ODI's. He is simply not skillful enough for Tests anymore.

yeah I've always backed him in Tests here. In this forum he gets abused because of LOIs. But will retire as a Test great

And they both lifted double load, scoring tons to bail us out from batting failures time after time. They moment they failed to do that, in the NZ series, we suffered a whitewash. Ashwin was one of the reasons we won the Aus series in 2020-21. He devised the leg side strangle to get Smith out cheaply and thus neutralized one of our biggest threats. It's a shame he was kept on the bench in the entire series in England.

 

I sincerely hope Rohit and Virat call it quits after the champions trophy. They have nothing left to prove except their terminal decline! Virat might want to prolong till the 2027 ODI WC, but with all due respect, we will be just fine without him and he is not indispensable.
