Jaiswal was in bench for 2024 world cup. Gill was not even in the picture. Yes alot is going to change after the the WCs(t20 and odi), do not think anything going to change in terms of Gill. They are looking him as next superstar all format player, bcci is backing him. If bcci backs some1 its hard for them to roll back. KL still makes to the team even after 2 bad WCs any-other player would have never made to the team after what he did. They kept backing Pant in white-ball with no returns, they need a star a poster-boy. They thought Pant and KL will be stop gap once some bigger player emerges. They made him test captain and team did well and when time was right as he scored runs in tests and levelled the test series in eng they brought him in the T20i team as VC. And now he is VC in t20i and captain in test and Odis. And making him and every one play in Aisa cup was to stamp it that there should have been no confusion. Plus he was added in Aisa cup because they were hoping he can get good score against one of those teams and their selection will be validated. Think the issue here is not that he is not liked by some1 , its just that this and previous management have made promises to alot of players. And alot has changed since then, selectors may have thought Kolhi and Rohit will chose tests over white-ball and they will play there for some more time but both being smart and and wanting to win Odi wc wanted to stay in ODis and leave tests. Now a lot of talent specially top order batters are there so there are only 6 spots in various formats and there are many players or taker for it. S Some1 will miss-out and who that is its now matter of preferences fr bcci and tm. Think the whole Idea was :: Rohit and Kolhi will take up test cricket and younger player will get their chances in Odis and t20is, but both kolhi and rohit selected Odis. If abhishek would have not had good SA and Eng series he would have been fringe or back-up opener in t20is and Jaiswal and Gill would have been the openers or thats how things were shaping up. In Zim series they pushed down Abhishek to #3 even after he got a 40-45 ball ton a macth prior, there were thoughts of pushing him to lower order too. Same thing happened to sanju when they asked him to open or when he got the opportunity he hit 3 tons . Ideally a wk should open in T20s to open up slots and position for other roles and players in the team, Ind made a bad move to remove wk from opening slot and they made it even worse by giving it to Gill. Now the player who are suffering this preferences are :: Jaiswal, Sanju, Sarfarz, Eshwaran. There could be other too. Ind right now have so many v.high potential batters/openers that csk has stopped lobbing for rutu, who once was seen as stop-gap when rohit goes out of odis. Heard they are also looking to fast track Vaibhav too (right thing to do), then there are Arya, Prab. What Ind does not have are allrounders and finishers( for t20is and Odis) Edited October 10, 2025 by tapandrun cricspirit and crictime 2

They are playing and can improve their bowling to be more useful. Dube turned out to be very handy in Aisa cup. May be ask him to focus on bowling regularly. Same thing with NKR. Can look to have Parag in the team. But all of them are potential batting all rounders who are still fighting for top 6 slots. We probably will be better served with a solid bowler who can hit some runs. Similar to Cummins. Basically no.8/9 who can bat and hit some boundaries. Most difficult is finding similar to Hardik who plays no.7. We have Axar/Sundar as spin allrounders.

Most difficult is finding similar to Hardik who plays no.7. We have Axar/Sundar as spin allrounders. Against good sides both Abhishek have 9 balls max and if its their day may be 15 balls. Think on average abhishek is getting good amount of bowling , but tilak can be used more as soon as LH batter comes in try him and when bowling to rh batters he can try drating in the ball from round the wkt(same thing maxwell does). As for Parag have mentioned in other threads too, his bat swing in not suited for t20 batting. He is a punchy kind of a batter, when the shots comes of it will look v.good but when it wont it would look like he played nothing shot. His shorts will look good on hard bouncy but not the spongy or Aus kind of bounce, where he can punch the ball. But in t20s where bowlers are using slower-ones, cutters, slow bouncers and as batter they have to hit every ball think kind of bat swing wont work. He needs full bat swing. Thing is with finisher's job they need to have power game there are no 2 ways about it, And should be able to access large part of the ground. ex Dhoni had power game but can only hit down the ground nowhere else hence he was striking below 120 sr in t20is. And say if some1 like Dk who has shots but not power game will also struggle in t20is. Shashank should have been tried in T20is In Odis finisher is bit simple, in most innings you will get sometime and pick and chose the ball they want to hit. Think they should try Shahruk in Odis. Not saying he is the solution but he bowls bit of off-spin and has batter's mind-set with some power game The problem with Ind bowlers if they are any good with the ball they can not even hold the bat. epecially in t20 where team needs some1 who can be trusted to hit 4/6 in last few balls. Arash has developed some hitting capability which is good. Edited October 10, 2025 by tapandrun
vvvslaxman Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 That last 4 of the day by Jaiswal was definition of poetry. Such an exquisite cover drive.
crictime Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Scored 175 runs in this innings. Thats another big cobtribution from him.
Gollum Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Five out of Jaiswal's seven Test hundreds have been above 150 - only Don Bradman has had more 150+ scores before turning 24 (8) Seventh Test hundred for Jaiswal, only three players had scored more before turning 24 - Don Bradman (12), Sachin Tendulkar (11), and Garfield Sobers (9). Javed Miandad, Graeme Smith, Alastair Cook, and Kane Williamson also had seven centuries each. Some elite company. crictime, cricspirit and rollingstoned 2 1
Gollum Posted October 11, 2025 Posted October 11, 2025 Let Root break SRT's record. Jaiswal will bring it back to India, it is inevitable unless BCCI *s up scheduling like they did in 90s. raki05 1

Also tougher for opener to maintain form for long period This is why I want him to play Tests only atleast for now
crictime Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 Good to see that he is playing Ranji match against Rajasthan. No supertar culture shown by him yet.
crictime Posted November 2, 2025 Posted November 2, 2025 Played a decent knock of 67 against Rajasthan in first innings. Was the highest scorer in the innings.

Gollum Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 Organic ground level popularity. Unlike certain PR made superstars. Great to see the world's number one batsman playing Ranji, hasn't happened in a long time. bouncers, raki05, Lord and 2 others 2 3
ShoonyaSifar Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 Great to see Yashasvi use the time to play Ranji and score big runs - a bit like how Sachin, Dravid or VVS used to do whenever they turned up for domestic cricket. Should smash the run charts vs SA to end the year on a stellar note. Has had a bit of an underwhelming year from his standards and for his immense potential. raki05, Need4Speed, New guy and 1 other 2 2
crictime Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 Not playing in match against Himachal Pradesh beacuse the SA test starts in few days.
