BacktoCricaddict Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I am sure there are other past threads from his younger days when he was an emerging cricketer - stories mostly focusing on his childhood struggles etc. But now is a time to appreciate the top-notch cricketer into which he has turned. And oh-so-quietly. I remember him the first time he played in the IPL (2021 or 2022?). He looked frail, scared, a deer in the headlights. Keyboard analysts may even have called him a mental midget. It seemed doubtful if his early promise would bear fruit. But in just 1 year after that - it was an absolute 180 deg turn into complete, unprecedented dominance. T20, FC, List A - you name it, and there he was - dominating everyone. The apparent frailty has turned into what I call a humble confidence. A gravitas. It's like "I know I will dominate you, but I respect you and will let my bat do the talking." Absolute superstar cricketer, and I think a bit underappreciated. It has become so normal for him to dominate that we just expect it every time, and when he delivers, it's like "yeah just doing his job." I just hope that when he struggles for form some day - and he will - fans, commentators, selectors and team-mates stand by him. He is the epitome of greatness - a role model sportsman and person. Ultimate_Game Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Now get him into ODIs as that'll fix some of the issues of the ODI team
Tillu Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I really wish he becomes a stat-padder in Test cricket. Gollum 1
cricspirit Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I am just thankful we have a fantastic opener who can bat across formats. He is also young and can play for a while giving us that stability up the order. He is the best we have found since Viru left. Gollum and Ultimate_Game 1 1
Gollum Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 My favorite young player. Most exciting talent since Viru for me, just because of his approach. Wish he puts more value on his wicket though. Lean run is common for every prodigy after first year (honeymoon period), but in his case, he is giving away his wicket after hard work. singhvivek141 1

crictime Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Has he played any games for Goa after he quit Mumbai. Did he get captaincy?
ungboysj Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Have said earlier too he is greatest batting talent india has produced after sachin He is must in all format , only if our selector coach and senior player were not biased and blind VT87 and Manucrick 2
vvvslaxman Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I like this Jaiswal very much. Very tight games for one or two hours and gradually accelerated. This is the perfect tempo for Jaiswal. BacktoCricaddict 1
cricspirit Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Not Sure how Jaiswal can't break into white ball teams. Gill is an all format batter and Jaiswal is not.. No idea by what logic.

Jaiswal has higher IPL strike rates than Samson, Gill, SKY, Rinku, Tilak. They moved established Samson to Random positions to accommodate Gill. So not like him being a top order bat is the issue as places are taken. Jaiswal can open, push Gill to No.3 and SKY to No.5 or Jaiswal can bat No.3 SKY is taking No.3 slot since he is captain.

In one years time this team will have a reset. Jaiswal can come back in. Jaiswal was in bench for 2024 world cup. Gill was not even in the picture.

But our selectors are spineless, our seniors are shameless. cricspirit 1
