Ultimate_Game Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 I'll say it again, you can bring any coach but things wouldn't change unless Rohit and Kohli are dumped. Give Gambhir or any coach a free hand by removing the so called "seniors" who have the backing of BCCI and nepo-baby Shah. Everyone knows they're safe without any performance no matter what the coach does. Compare our T20 team to the ODI and Tests teams, and you can see the difference, and the difference is Rohit & Kohli not there in T20s anymore. Kick these cancers out of the team and we can rebuild and Gambhir can actually do something.
Vk1 Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 KP, Anderson, Swann, Cook - 2012 Eng team already had very good players who became greats later on. Who the hell is in this NZ team to lose so badly Ultimate_Game and Stan AF 1 1

In 12 years we hadn't lost a home series In 24 years we hadn't been whitewashed at home. Will the non performers led by RGS, VK, GIll, KL and Siraj etc be dropped or shuffled around ? What next ? @Lord@Austin 3:!6 @Chaos@VVS Laxman@vivek singh@Ultimate_Game@Vicks57 Maybe this is why they went ahead and selected the BGT XVIII well in advance :-)!
bowl_out Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 (edited) Very good analysis by Pdogg from 10:00 - 18:00 - it's mostly in Tamil though. @vvvslaxman @Vicks57 @Stan AF - thoughts? I think the point on Gambhir is spot on, although Rohit, Kohli are equally to be blamed for apparent lack of interest Quick translation: Gautam Gambhir was elevated to Indian coach based on his success with KKR as mentor, but the true credit goes to Chandrakant Pandit. He has years of coaching experience in domestics with Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha etc and brought no-name teams to limelight. Someone like him as India's head coach makes more sense than Gambhir. Gambhir's coaching staff were handpicked by him, but most of them are overseas coaching staff like RTD and Morkel who barely have any experience playing in India, so they will have little value as coaches in home series. Coaching in India requires progressing through various levels from Level 1-through-4. It takes someone 10+ years to go from Level 3->4. What is the motivation of coaches like Pandit when a Gambhir with barely any coaching experience at domestic levels bypasses everyone to become head coach? Shambolic batting by India - with one guy scoring over 50% of the runs chasing 140-odd. Very poor defense technique by India, but none of the coaching staff is equipped to tell them where their shortcoming is. Poor technique of some players makes average balls look like dream deliveries 15 years back Sachin, VVS, Dravid wouldn't crumble for 100 on a home pitch despite playing ATG like Shane Warne, Murali, Vettori and the like, because the focus was on defense and not offense. vvvslaxman Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Totally agree. Especially wrt the KKR specific picks. They have no real experience to coach Test team. Throwaib_Chuckter and bowl_out 2
Throwaib_Chuckter Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 Unrelated to GG and RGS, this is more of a gap with BCCI. Wonder what kind of "sweet offers" BCCI honchos expect ? Maybe they will eventually warm up to Hot Spot like they did after whining about DRS for ages. ABD sums it up. It didn't look conclusive to many. https://x.com/DrJain21/status/1852981412573446256

jf1gp_1 Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 People need to calm down. We lost to a better team so grow up. I have never understood how losing a test series at home is equal to national humiliation. Changes will happen and we will be back to our winning ways. New guy 1

Something which has never happened in our entire history is a big big big deal There were far far better teams which have visited us when indian team was much weaker and yet we never got whitewashed like this. Some people have more standards and expectations from their team. You are free to accept and like them but most people won't. When we have players failing for FIVE+ years all this excuse of this being one off thing and better team falls flat. Everyone could see this coming a mile Vk1, Ultimate_Game, Vicks57 and 1 other 2 2
NameGoesHere Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 On general principles I don’t believe we should get rid of the coach. He’s been in this job what five months? Regardless of results, he needs a free rein for a year at least. We shouldn’t start panicking and behaving like the PCB, lashing out mindlessly. But yes GG should be on notice. The players, yes. They can be judged on a larger - and longer - body of work. Rohit needs to go as captain, at minimum. Kohli needs to go, period.

Is there a rule stipulating a 3-0 loss in a 3 match series, as the minimum prerequisite for a whitewash classification ?

DSP saab needs to be rested as do many others (if not removed from the mix).
