That's the sad part. Even the twin epic humiliation to be the first Indian team to lose to NZ at home, and the first Indian team to be clean swept home isn't enough for the seniors to be dropped. Shows why we struggle despite all the resources at our disposal.

Rahul is the opener in India A game.Inspite of having Sudharsan, Gaikwad, Eashwaran, Paddikal  in the squad ,Rahul is opening .

 

There are no middle order batsman in India A squad, but Rahul who is playing in middle order open the innings.

Your confidence in Jurel was not misplaced. Batted really well in typical fast bouncy Aussie conditions against good bowlers when everyone else failed in Ind A game. Should play at no. 6 in Perth now.

Personally i didnt know if Jurel can succeed in the bouncy conditions of Oz ( or seam conditions of Eng or both of RSA) - with Indian batters you have to wait to see if you got an Azharuddin on your hands or a Kohli. 

I am simply a fan of his batting and i think if given opportunity, he will end up with higher average than Pant, because Jurel has the nous of an OG test batsman- he is okay to defend and be patient when it is required and most important of all, he doesnt gift his wicket away.

I think our side needs batters who are more Chanderpaul than Lara at this point, where ability to stick around is far more important than scoring blazing runs and getting out.

If the team management are accesing the perfomance of A team and if they have thought of sending Dhruv Jurel ahead to play for A team.,they could have added Harshit,Arshdeep, Jaiswal ,Sarfaraz  to the squad.
