Ramandeep is Lambi Race ka Ghoda.

Ramandeep is strictly a T20 player just because he can bat, bowl and field. Ideal T20 player in GG era.

But lets not mix format format. He is not an ODI player as such multi utility work doesn't work in longer format as you need one solid primary skill.
In ODI, don't pick bits n pieces players. We suffered previously by playing Axar or Shardul. Just pick your best 7 batsman ( two of whom can bowl) and best 4 bowler ( one of them can bat) and that should do the job for you.

Raman is at max 1 over bowler against a good batting side and for him to grow as batter he will need more chances as a batter play against top level bowlers.

Would Ind team invest in him .....??? V.Iyer was also a good option can bat anywhere in 1-6 a lefthander and a 1-2 over bowler. Ind tm and selectors did not invest time in him.

The problem here now is Ind TM and selectors tends to invest in ppl like Gill, KL, Pant who gives the illusion of all format player they do not seems to invest in some1 who could be specialist or utility player. They keep playing and dropping utility kind of player and not let them settle in the team.

Dube was selected in T20 WC now he is dropped, V.Iyer was asked to play in middle order in domestic to get some exp.there, Tripathi was tried, Patidar was tried.

Are they giving any kind of rope to them these guys play 1/2 matches in some series and gets dropped and then selectors picks someone else and then him to select the previous guy

Venky is top order player.

Raman needs to be accurate then he'll be useful. But it'll happen only if he bowls every game.

Bits and pieces are required for T20s.

In any format, a player should at least have one strong suit based on which he makes the team. Bits and pieces players don't make great teams.  His bowling seems strictly part-time so will have to show how good his batting is.

He's a big hitter finisher who can bowl a bit. Also fields really well.

As package such cricketers are better specialist batsmen or bowlers unless they are really consistent or reliable.

Let me make it clear lambi race is ghoda as a middle order white ball regular like Raina, Yuvi. Not an allrounder please.

Good that you clarified, I had a feeling Ramandeep was slowly being pushed into allrounder category...which he isnt at the moment.

He can give you an over or two. But can't be relied as an allrounder. Same goes for Abhishek Sharma, Tilak & Ryan Parag as well...neither are allrounders but can bowl as per the need. Ryan is ahead of the pack though as a bowler.

But Ind team played him in middle order and lower middle order and also asked him do the same in domestic so he started playing in mo for mp and kkr too

Don't think he's in that class as batsman. More of a hitter at the end.

Yup. Would pick up Ramandeep over a specialist any day unless that specialist is Bumrah or Jaiswal.

If india bats till 8 in 8/10 matches he ll have max 10-11 balls to score a quick fire 25/26. So a score of 190 can end up being 200/205. Ideal Raina replacement. Come and hit from ball 1.  He did that number of times in ipl for kkr. One main reason he was retained.

He's one guy you will always want in your T20 squad to replace someone who's failing at 7,8

Dear OP,

What is this "lambi race?" I take it to imply that "race" is a ladki because if it was a ladka, that would be "lamba race." How the eff are we supposed to know that a race is a woman?  Who made that rule? When and where? For sure, Panini didn't write that grammar.

Yours frustratedly,

The problem with lower order basher or basher role in general, they will fail more than they would succeed.

For this reason they need a viable secondary skill, else it gets hard for them to retain their place in the team. Even if you see maxwell he bowls, Head also rolls his arms over, livingstone bowls

Even historically such player needed to be multi-skilled-- Sanath, Afiridi, Razaq, Klusener etc..  And other thing is they can only develop under  captains and then once that captain goes these players goes too Raina is an example, he was never able to graduate to a proper middle oder batter his utility remained till dhoni was there.

even russel , polard, bravo all are multi-skilled

And if its between Raman and Ashutosh (pbks) who would you chose.both do same role for their IPL teams hard hitting finishers. Both did good last season.

Ashutosh did it multiple time and seems to have brains to use pace and angles alongside power game. Raman could be the best fielder in Ind right now, think he does not have rocket arm as like jadeja but he is v.quick across the turf.

Ind should keep these 2 guys in the loop (if both looked good at intnl level) so as if any1 is out of form other just take up the role and ask them if they can develop on their bowling may be start with good 2 overs.
