some numerology BS by the likes Prem Jyotish ! that they believe will bring good luck. He also changed his last name from Devgan to Devgn

Very Possible.

Also, I wonder if, by changing the name like that, they could just say it is fiction inspired by Taanaaji; so they can take some artistic liberties.

I am thinking now , it is to avoid some copyright issues.  Like RGV ki (pichwade ki) Aag!!

Seems sub-par and the typical masala film lacking the authenticity

I hope some day there is a period movie that capture the actual dialect .Just makes it seem so much more authentic.

Glad they kept the original book name.

Love Akshaye Khanna he looks like has done justice at least looks wise.

I am curious to see whether they will show Sambhaji's death fully or will try to dilute it by a mere simple execution.

They cant show his death. It will cause riots.

After all, Bollywood played a secular Sambaji. They will never learn. If they show the real communal conflict, it will  hurt samuday vishesh. Reviews are mixed. I will still watch it tomorrow in theaters. History should be remembered . Post you review , if anybody has watched. @kepler37b @rish or any Marathis here

Deccan herald is back to its mischievous ways... Has a half page article on caste in Indian cinema and in the reviews section, a newbie film critic rates this 1.5 star  (/5) saying that the film lacks nuance.

Do you depict reality or monkey balance ? Far from the days of Netkallapa Guru swamy and his ideals

Looking at the reviews Bullywood as usual tried to "secularize".

Ajay Devgn's narration said India was a land where all religions live peacefully. I don't think the concept of "religion" was even there before invasions. All the Buddhism, Jainism, Shaivaites, Vaishnavites etc were just different branches of Sanatan Dharma.

Atrocities committed by Aurangzeb is regarded as his greed to expand his empire in Deccan. He was deemed as power hungry monster carefully diluting his real motive behind the death of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Madri (mother of Nakul and Sahdeva) committed sati when Pandu died. Don't tell me Mahabharat was written after invasions. Then there is the disgusting caste system which dehumanizes our own.

All religions were illogical, dumb, evil but reforms happened over the years. No need to blame others for everything, otherwise no progress will be seen.

How is this connected with this movie?

I want an acknowledgment of Hindavi swaraj and the brutality of his death. Can’t help with secular flavor, comes with Bollywood and India

What's the verdict guys? Please post reviews, those who have watched. Am a Vicky Kaushal fan, but no faith in the director Laxman Utekar.

Mixed reviews so far.  Solid opening at BO level though.

I am hearing that Sambhaji is mostly shown in only action and war cry scenes.  No indepth character has been explained.

Madri committed suicide out of guilt not necessity, why didn't kunti comitted sati ,why is that before Raja Ram mohan roy cases of sati was far less and few and suddenly it begins popping up ,why is that the moment mrityunjay vidyalankar writes bedant chandrika in rebuttal of Raja Ram mohan roy and suddenly few days later his body is found in mysterious circumstances, why is that pandit naval Kishore opens a printing press after 1857 kranti and he before printing islamic literature makes it necessary for his employees to perform wazu,so there are lot of things we don't know, main kuch bolunga to vivad ho jayega

Saw the movie today, and it's unapologetic. Some people will be seething after watching this movie.

Watched Badass Ravikumar instead today... Slasher comedy lmao.

They have twisted Aurangzeb's motives to torture Sambhaji I heard from reviews.  Big turn off for me right there decided to skip at least for time being.
