Lone Wolf Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Southie Dehat for you... Dwindling tourist numbers are for a reason. India is not for offbeat holidaying. Stay in a resort, visit places in daylight and go back to the safety of the resort for the night. Tried and tested Rule 101 for tourists (foreign and local) Feel for Hampi though I recommended visiting there to some of my friends. Time to put this on No go list. Jaipur wins the culture contest by a landslide

Time to start giving death punishment to Rapists and pause all the govt benefits for next 30 years to their immediate family. Whether it's reservation, health benefits, loans or whatever. cowboysfan Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Hampi is one of my favorite places in Karnataka but you can lose civilization there even traveling a few kilometers outside hotels .its unfortunate but the perpetrators should be jailed or life.

bharathh Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Hampi can be one of the greatest tourist destinations in India. Pity it is nothing more than a hippie draw atm. The whole region feels cursed. singhvivek141 1

North South divide will slowdown once we stop choosing wrong politicians. Selfish politicians will always try to find a new target to keep the people engaged, and in process will avoid the surveillance on them.

A common moral system on raising kids, moral values, empathy, finding partners, civic sense will go a long way to solve everything in our society. Problem is how do we create this? NIOS schools integrated with moral codes? Not sure. But I do know that it starts with parents and education of kids.

It's just baffling that even after 78 years of Independence, we are still stuck to the same education system more or less which Britishers gave. Focus need to shift on skill development and hands on knowledge...instead of just parroting the books. Need to get rid of state level curriculum as well and keep one source of truth. On immediate basis government has to pass strict laws, which not only punish the accountable but also hit his ecosystem around them.

I said the same things that we accuse Congress politicians/fans do when a crime happens in a BJP-ruled state. Two wrongs don't it right. I deleted my post. It is sad that tourists are attacked in India as it hurts the tourism industry and the nation itself. Hope the criminals are given the harshest punishment. This is on the rise, when a French vlogger was raped in Jharkhand and the state gave them 10 lak rupees as compensation. There are insta reels where the guy talks in Hindi to goris and says 6000 is good usko lene ke liye, and she is smiling and nodding without knowing what he meant. Comedians are making fun of Russian women that they can be gotten for 6000 rs. This is dehat on the rise all over the country. Internet, smart phones, SM apps like Insta are a curse to the country. Faced this issue during trip to Lucknow...at the airport there was a foreigner couple who were asking something to security personnals in English and they were responding back in hindi in a sarcastic tone. I intervened and asked them to either respond in English if they understand it, or simply say "I dont know" instead of mocking them. They are our guests and we have to ensure they go back with good memories. Security guys as usual were like "we will do what we want to do, why are you poking your nose here." Thankfully few more people backed me up and said the same to security, who later backed off and responded appropriately. coffee_rules, I6MTW, Mariyam and 1 other 4

Hampi is actually a rare great tourist spot in India for hippie tourists who love exploring. I have heard they have made excellent arrangements for offbeat tourists over there but it is sad to see all of this may go down the drain. Karnataka is increasingly becoming super unsafe Regionalist thugs and goons acting with impunity. Some strict measures are needed. singhvivek141 1
