Shreyas Iyer is the best all format captaincy prospect in the country.

Easily starts as whiteball captain.

Made him captain in ODI already.

Kick SKY out and get Shreyas in at 4 in T20I

In Tests, Bumrah still starts as captain. Iyer needs to find his way into the Test side first before thinking about captaincy for him

Best part is that he's a captain who deserves his spot in the team, and doesn't need to be carried. Rohit has been a liability in Tests and was highly inconsistent in ODIS over the last 1.5 years. SKY has been useless in T20s and is in the team due to his bilateral glories.

Iyer is someone who has shown up in tough moments in ICC tourneys and has entered his best batting form. Deserves to be the captain.

SKY has been MIs top performers this season

SKY has done lot of great things as t20 captain. He is one who has changed the mindet  of Indian team in t20s.

Form should dicate who should be captain.Iyer is in good form but can he sustain it.

Iyer might not be great in SA, but he should be there.Tests he does not deserve a place as of now.

I was talking about his intl performances, especially in ICC tourneys. Take out his catch to dismiss Miller and you'll barely even notice he has been around for 3-4 ICC tourneys!

Iyer is a huge upgrade over SKY, and it's difficult to kick anyone else out. Openers will be from Abhishek, Samson or Jaiswal (Arya as a left field pick or Gill somehow sneaking in). Tilak deserves his no. 3 spot. No. SKY at no. 4 is too unreliable. Iyer can slot in at 4 and lend solidity. From no. 5 onwards we have all-rounders (Axar, Pandya) and lower order batters (Rinku, Ashutosh, KL or whoever is in form), followed by 3 specialist bowlers (Bumrah, Varun C, Arshdeep. Kuldeep and Harshit/Khaleel can be in the squad).

It will be tough to drop SkY when he is also performing in IPL atleast as of now

He definitely starts in the XI for now, there is time between now and the event,he may loose form and Iyer may as well:wp23:

It is all about current form and should be ,

If both are performing SKY stays,if both are underperforming still sKY stays

Only time Iyer gets in,when only he performs

Iyer has form and pedigree on his side. He scored 500+ runs in WC 2023, and followed it up with an impressive 2025 CT. And also showed his captaincy chops by leading DC to IPl Final, winning IPL with KKR and turning around PBKS. Iyer has proven he can handle pressure and is probably our best batter at the crunch. SKY doesn't give us that. I would rather see Iyer come in to bat at 20/2 than SKY.

I'm not against him,i just gave you a scenario

No way SKY is going to be dropped if he too performs ,Iyers only chance when carries his form till the beginning of next year and SKY fails in the same time

We all know ,captains aren't switched abruptly here that too just before WC

We've nearly 20 T20 games to go before the WT20, and the team is almost set. Switching captaincy is not really that big a deal. To me it's a simple swap between SKY and Iyer. Most of the spots are sealed more or less and the core group is already identified.

Problem would've been if we were starting a rebuild, which we aren't. We're simply replacing a non-performing batter (SKY) with an in-form one (Iyer). Rest of the pieces will remain as they are.

Still lot of time left,Asia Cup this year will settle the debate atleast by 50-60%
