Check the quality of his runs in RSA, nobody else comes close. Eng 2016 and 18. Perth 100 in 2018 where he was wrongly given out.

the reason for the hype around kohli from 2015-2016 was the sense he had 'solved' batting in a way nobody had before. his averages in white ball were barely believable. averaging 100 in ODI chases or something like that. the hype reached fever pitch on the eve of mohali in 2016. then he plays THAT knock. he was easily the most watchable of the fab 4.

Just like 2011 was the year of MSD as a captain, 2016 was year of Kohli as a player.  Achieved cult status with humongous year.

That's what was said about Gavaskar, Kapil, Tendulkar, Dhoni... game moves on and new stars come in. I'm sure folks will be having the same discussion when Jaiswal hangs his boots, or a future star does the same 30 years from now.

One of my fav game was the t20 win against Pakistan. Virat was exceptional and those 2 six were unbelievable. 

 

Extraordinary player. Will go down as one of our cricket greats.
