Thakur used to swing. Not sure if he does the same. Hope he has something left in him. Reddy does swing. But lacks control. Also he bowls too slow even by English trundling standard. The only thing swinging with Thakur is his belly fat. Nearly 34 and washed up yet playing for the A team on the hardest tour. Embarrassing.

tweaker Posted June 4, 2025 Author Posted June 4, 2025 Gill and Sai Sudharsan to miss second England Lions vs India A game. KL Rahul is expected to link up with the India A squad o and play the game in preparation for the five-Test series against England. Akash Deep will also be available for selection.

putrevus Posted June 4, 2025 Posted June 4, 2025 (edited) Shami is not a big miss in England. But I see the same problem which we had in Australia who after Bumrah. They will scrambling to find bowlers who can bowl 20 overs in a day and keep RR down on flat pitches which England will roll out. How will they take 20 wickets if Bumrah is having off day or not playing.Bumrah will get this wickets but I don't think it will be enough. I hope I am wrong. Problem is we have not found one decent bowler after Ishant has left the scene.Ishant was gold on tours like this as third seamer and holding bowler. He was badly underused in Australia and did a reasonable job when he finally found a way into the side. he has been bowling well recently as well. Bumrah, Siraj and Prasidh will have carry the attack. The good news is that England's attack is also weaker than it has been for many years. tweaker, express bowling, Lone Wolf and 1 other 4

If any bowlers have off day the fourth bowler should be able to held one side. Shardul could be preferred for his bowling experience
tweaker Posted June 5, 2025 Author Posted June 5, 2025 India A will face England Lions in the second unofficial Test match at the County Ground in Northampton from June 6 to 9.

Gollum Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 Kuldeep is going to be a wildcard if they roll out flatties. He also has a mental hold over some of their batsmen. 100% sure no green tops this time, Bazball approach doesn't work on those kind of pitches and no Anderson-Broad.

Siraj seems to have regained his form and confidence. Pace is back after he got dropped for CT. Bumrah will do as usual but the second and third seamers are the key so Siraj and Prasidh will have to do better than what they did in Australia. Prasidh will do well to just emulate Hazelwood.

Just emulate Hazlewood? If he does half of what Hazlewood can do India will be good shape. Hope you are right about Siraj.I have lost faith in him. Aussies had Boland seamlessly integrate into their side if there is an injury. 3rd and 4th seamer will also have key roles.Do we have a second seamer?
Adamant Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 5 hours ago, rkt.india said: Ishant could hardly set up batsmen. And Ishant himself was not great in England. Well you are absolutely wrong. Ishant Sharma averages 24 from 2015 to 2021. This included a tour of England in which he averaged 24 and was our highest wicket taker. Even in 2021 in the memorable Lords test we won he took 5 wkts conceding just 80 runs got in form Bairstow out and changed the match for us. Ishant Sharma from 2015 to end of his career operated at an ATG level and was the reason we were competitive away from home. Also one of the biggest reason why Indian fast bowling bloomed and we broke record of West Indies Quartet for taking most wickets in an international calendar year. Achievements like these don’t happen without amazing players. Infact I will say if we find an Ishant Sharma clone we will compete tooth and nail with the Aussie bowling lineup. There is a stat which showed that Ishant swung the ball more than Anderson in 2018 series. Ultimate_Game, BacktoCricaddict and rollingstoned 1 2
vvvslaxman Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 Performing Ishant was the best foil for Bumrah in swinging conditions. We don't have that bowler who can run in bowl all day on a length restricting the opposition from running away with high scoring rate. In the 5th test Siraj conceded 77 runs in 11 overs.

tweaker Posted June 6, 2025 Author Posted June 6, 2025 Today match should be used to find the right players for future as Virat,Rohit,Ashwin have retired and Shami is not selected. The team management should decide where Rahul will play, will he play as opener or middle order batsman. Ideally he should play as opener. The team management should back Siraj and Prasidh fo form a three pronged pace attack to support Bumrah. Prasidh should be persisted and should not be dropped after 1 or 2 games. Allrounders Shardul or Reddy should be assessed for long terms. If Reddy is not fit and is not able to bowl some overs he should not be considered. Karun Nair should get all this 5 tests to perform and he should not be dropped after 1 or 2 tests.

He depended more on tight bowling and batsmen making the mistake.

Agreed with most but Shardul is a known quantity..just older and more unfit than he was 4 years ago. This is a great opportunity to break this pattern of going back to the past and older journeymen who at best were mediocre. Throw some younger players in and let them show what they can do. If that Is Reddy so be it.

England bat deep and we need extra bowlers if their batters are in form. If the fourth seamer is not good, then Bumrah would be over bowled and he may get injured. Most of our top orders batsman don't bowl and if Siraj and Prasidh are not in form ,Bumrah would have to be shock bowler as well as stock bowler
