Manucrick Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Nicholas Pooran, at the age of 29, has decided to quit international cricket entirely. Pooran has played 61 T20Is and 106 ODIs amassing over 4000 runs in both the formats.
Zero_Unit Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Man I don't watch cricket as much as I did, mainly because of the amount of international cricket players that I grew up watching retiring/retired. Even the few amount that I enjoyed watching (Klassen and Pooran were some of the few) is also retiring. Gonna probably even reduce watching it further once Virat/Rohit retires along with couple other international players that are hanging by a thread.
LordPrabhzy Posted June 10 Posted June 10 At this rate players from NZ/WI and SA wont bother prolonging their international career.. they will just play T20s.. Might as well dump the international scene and move to tear long T20 leagues which are longer and spaced out
goose Posted June 10 Posted June 10 i wouldn't have such a massive problem with international dying if it was being replaced with the same sport but between franchises like we see in football. instead it's being replaced by a slogathon sandeep and wanted_desi 2
putrevus Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Very sad that a 29 year old guy is done with international cricket. But the problem is WI, SL, Pakistan along with other small boards are always dependent on ICC handouts. Plus corruption at all levels .The talent pool in these countries is not being properly managed at all. IPL and other t20 leagues will only increase in future.

Cricket isn't like football where many more countries plays. IPL and other leagues are exciting for people (I don't usually care or watch often) because of international players - best of the best comes to play. Not just the local guys. You got to know alot of these international players through INTERNATIONAL CRICKET, not the other way around. If they dump international cricket - I predict, cricket leagues like IPL will also start seeing a slow death. If I only wanted to watch Indians play, I would go watch something like Ranji Trophy/other domestic tournament or wtv equivalent for each specific nation. sage 1
tapandrun Posted June 10 Posted June 10 (edited) Think we will comeback and play at-least 1 WC for Wi, he might have been looking for some kind of deal with WI cricket where they let him pick and chose the series but they might have not been able to find common grounds And for both board and himself to avoid media speculations he would have announced the retirement. Will see more and more of this players skipping the central contract to play multiple leagues and comeback for Important series if that time a space/position can be made for them Interesting to see how Ind player would react to such scenarios in future, more and more player are coming in , it would be hard to select them all will they take Unmukt chand way or try finding some diff. solution. Take for example Ruturaj's intnl career is done before it even started because of how quickly game changed and new player coming in. He would have thought after Kolhi and Rohit he would get his chance, if CSK does not win the cup in next 2 years and they sign some1 Ind capped player who is regular in the Ind team then he would also ask for captaincy. crictime Posted Thursday at 05:08 PM Posted Thursday at 05:08 PM Indeed a match winner who played for the win with the right approach without being selfish. A loss for international T20i cricket. tapandrun 1
