Indian batters and bowlers are leading in all the stats this tour.

But if you do a statistical analysis of the spread of batsmen and bowlers performances , you will see more outliers on the indian side.

 

Most of the England batsmen and bowlers will have consistent knocks.So with England you will know that there is a minimum score they will get unlike India.

 

Its very much like a Federer Nadal match up. Federer could hit all the beautiful winners but he also had more unforced errors. England do not need to do anything special to beat India.

Still can't believe we lost this test.

Agree that team management can do limited things when your batsmen throw wickets or drop catches, but why is Karun Nair still playing? It is not that he scored low, watching him on the crease feels like he has no clue how to play rising or seaming balls.

Also, send a message to players like Jaiswal, if they make the same mistake again, they will be dropped for a game

He will be persisted for spending time at the crease. I know it is weird. But that is how they will see. We want someone to see off new ball. He is okay there without scoring much.

Do not take professional sports too seriously.... Sometimes strange things happen in them that logic cannot answer. Then the answer is stupidity or something more nefarious.

 

Sometimes it feels genuine - enjoy it. Sometimes it feels eerily scripted ( almost like pro-wrestling ) and then just forget about it and move on.

 

Treat it as entertainment and move on....

Thereafter, its just a form of entertainment. Feels good when we do well but not dejected when we lose.

This is a very colonial thing to say.

 

Cricket was dumped on the unsuspecting Indian populace around the 1930s when it was clear to the Brits that they were going to leave in the next decade or two. Cricket , test cricket to be precise, was supposed to distract the hard working Indian and keep him watching (or listening to) inane cricket games for 5 days of which 3 or 4 were working days. For a nation that had a tryst with destiny, its working nation building population was distracted by meaningless test matches.  You, dearest @Gollum, today are perpetuating the same behaviour.  Churchill and Mountbatten would be laughing in their grave that many smart Indians have still fallen for this.

 

IPL on the other hand is Indian ingenuity. We made cricket after office hours and contracted it to 3 hours of fun and Bollywood.

I used to think this but when I saw how popular baseball is in US and Latin America I changed my mind.

 

There is something intoxicating about one person pitching/bowling a ball at another person who has to hit it with a baseball club or cricket bat. Not sure what the attraction is but it is there and it is addictive.

 

Now the length of 5 days vs 3 hours can be open to debate - but originally cricket was a rich man's game and coverage was "spotty" even with radios. My father in pre independence days used to go to the "paan shop" to catch the commentary. They had no radio at their home.

These fellows have some serious mental issues. They badly need sports psychologists. Just look at the World Cup final in your own backyard: timid and frightened. Only Pant, Bumrah, or Jaiswal look Australian in this team. The rest are sheeps. Nitish Reddy looks like a tailender with the bat—subdued and terrified. 

Many of them simply lack the mental toughness required for competitive sports. No shortage of talent, but psychological issues. Just facts.

It was Bumrah and co who failed Kohli and co otherwise, India would have won series in SA in 2021 and England in 2021.They won everywhere and defeated all other teams home and away .NZ was always a lottery to India.

 

That failed batting generation played with five batsman and not even Pant but were ready to take 20 wickets every test.Forget whiteball cricket where India has won most things.

 

Fab five generation laid eggs everywhere including Zimbabwe. 

 

So were they perfect no but they faught more.
