Well it's a "big" tournament , and not too long before world cup.. for me we should play our best team and Jaiswal is in that team. Even if it means not Vs UAE play him Vs bigger sides. I would not suggest he play low profile bi laterals Free spirited is one thing, "good" is another... Do need quality even in T20is and Jaiswal is different class

Do need quality even in T20is and Jaiswal is different class Jaiswal is good batter but do not think he can walk into Ind's t20i side that comfortably, Abhishek has shown he can hit 6s and big scores against bowler like archer, wood, rashid. Jaiswal can only come into the team as opener and that should not happen till Ind finds a wk who can walk into the playing 11 just based on his batting. If wk's batting is not that good then they by default have to be slotted at opening position. He may/may not be a different class in test but he is not a different class when it comes to t20s , there are many options who may be better or if not better are at same level as him in t20i.. but there is no harm in keeping him around, but can he be in playing in 1st 11 is a different case Edited August 14, 2025 by tapandrun vvvslaxman and Need4Speed 2

Especially with introduction of city premeire leagues we have far too many options. This goes for GIll as well. Sai Sudarshan despite making 759 runs last season is not walking into this line up. But he may find a place in many international side. rollingstoned and tapandrun 2

Before it was mostly older Ind players would take up top 3/4 positions in IPL team just to further their chances. Eng also faced similar dilemma with multiple player Hales, Roy, Johny, Malan, Vince, etc good top order players but they can not play them all. There were multiple options for wk too. Ind is facing this with new players, eng faced this with seasoned players. Edited August 14, 2025 by tapandrun

In my 11 Iyer gets in which definitely strengthens the team and Jitesh at 8 is good finisher he is unlikely to see much batting time which suits him Jaiswal plays the whole IPL anyway so those bad habits would creep in and will have to be managed and coached Dube was in the last squad, I'm not sure about him at all. And Rinku I'm a big fan of but has off the boil a bit of late. Playing whole IPL is unavoidable. We need to atleast manage the rest till hes mature enough. Rinku has issues v spin. I'm a big fan too but he'll miss out.
putrevus Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 So Jaiswal and Gill are getting punished for being better than the players only t20 players. Jaiswal cannot crack into T20 team but he should be replacing one of the best odi batsman in history in Rohit Sharma. FYI I am not saying Rohit should play in 2027. Lord 1

He is someone who can maximise 10 or 15 balls Jaiswal would not be taking Abhishek place IMHO, it would be instead of Sanju I'm not sure there are that many better options at all, yes in terms of "impact" maybe doing well off 15 or 20 balls. But Jaiswal offers that too as well as quality .... in the back end of a big tournament, who would you rather have walking out to face Cummins and Hazelwood in a T20 match: Jaiswal or Sanju , let alone unproven kids like Arya and Prabsimran. Game time also counts it's not like Sanju will suddenly play Cummins and Hazalwood, during a course of a tournament and your run in a tournament you get into required rhythm

Having said that Sanju needs numbers on his side. He has been feast or famine for a while. Since SL series 14 innings 8 of which 10 or less. 3 centuries. His Jo Burg and DUrban centuries were outstanding. But he perished while repeatedly attempting pull against England. Hence the returns were 26, 5, 3, 1, 16. This will go against him. But he played according to the theme of the team. Can't blame him. That is the new mantra. If they want safe and secure starts they might go with Gill even Sai Sudarshan who looked ungetouttable in the IPL 2025. But that is a regressive step. tapandrun 1

Mentioned this before most teams are following a template when it comes to wk batting position. And having a wk batter to bat at 7-8 is jst wasting a position, can have an vipraj kind of a legspinner there he is a bowler plus when it comes to batting 8-12 balls he can try swing his bat too not sure of his intnl quality yet but has shown that in ipl. If they are to play 10-15 balls more often they will fail it would be 15-22 runs innings. Also not convinced that Jitesh is an intnl. level hitter. All he can hit it down the wkt vs. easy pace and easy spin. Right now having jaiswal in t20i opening slot is like finding a solution to a problem which does not exists, or why trying fixing some thing which is not broken. Interms of who would you like the face a high class bowler at opening is where the argument comes that if a wk can not make it into the playing 11 just based on their batting then they have to be slotted to open and given license to go all out. This is where Ind has problem that they do not have t20i level wk batter. Posted this during the IPL that amongst jaiswal, Abhishek, Arya and now may be Vaibhav some1 has to start keeping wkts. Abhishek can already bowl so rest have to do something else as well, if jaiswal can bowl legspin then it opens up his slot he was doing it , not sure why is he not trying at intnl. matches. maniac Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I am in that “as long as Jaiswal gets the 100 it’s ok if we lose” (unless Pak- Bangla) phase. No Jaiswal. No support Lord 1
