My two cents , Players who may not able to play for INDIA among these players- 1. Ambhimanyu..he has not played in an indian 11 and i feel he is too short and kinda strokeless , not sure if he will play tests or odi for INDIAN 11. 2.jagadeesan...- average. 3. Ayush is talented but his best days are over. All others may play for India at some times in some format. Excited about Gurnoor Brar, yash thakur and Khaleel. all 3 can bowl 140+. Ayush Badoni is 25 and his best days are beyond him? Dude scored a 200 in Duleep Trophy, averages 60+ in FC, had a decent IPL. Jagadeeshan scored a 197, has a FC avg of 50+ after 53 FC matches. Absolutely deserves to be in India A squad, even as a specialist batter, his keeping being a bonus. Same with Easwaran, may not be getting chances in the main team but that's okay. Scores tons of runs in FC cricket season after season, deserves to be rewarded with the A team berth at least for another year. Players toil in the FC circuit to fulfil their ambition to play at least once for India. As long as Easwaran is getting picked after scoring runs, it's absolutely fine. Plus in a period of transition of our test team, having experienced hands from FC cricket will come handy at some stage. A bit like Murali Vijay coming back to test side in 2013 at the age of 29 when we were well and truly in generational transition. Gave us a very solid 4 years. A team should not just purely be about pathway to the National side. It should also serves as motivation to do well in domestics, else majority players will just have 5-6 year long FC career. If it means a few perceived non-international standard picks, so be it. Mindsets evolve, careers can turnaround in a season. That's the hope with such picks. Sooda and tweaker 1 1

Only in India we are obsessed with young players in the squad and discard anyone who is 25+. A player 29-30 year old with good amount of domestic experience can give us solid 5-6 years in the Test team. Remember Michael Hussey debuted at the age of 29-30 and made more than 6k Test runs for Australia. If Eashwaran or Jagadeshan are good enough to play for India they should despite their current age. They are not too old to be frank. No point in packing the team with 20-21 year olds without much experience, not all will actually succeed. Everyone cannot be Jaiswal or Shubman or Washington. The team needs a balance, especially the Test team. T20Is are fine, pack them with young batters, don't care much about that format as it only needs aggressive hitters. ShoonyaSifar 1

Maybe Malewar too in place of Eashwaran ( who will never get to actually play for India ). Yes agreed with Nishant just coming off a good match in Duleep too. I dont know how he compares to Manav Suthar...better or worse test prospect Wouldn't shams Mulani be a good pick too? Seems a bit unfairly ignored as an experienced campaigner for the the bright young kid instead (Suthar)

daryl1985 Posted September 11, 2025 Posted September 11, 2025 Surely Siraj does not need to play. He is the one player that deserves a break.

Even Sachin was short, but he was a great. So Abhimanyu can’t get a place in the team if he’s short or what? Or maybe, fitness and runs instead? Have you seen Abhimanyu play to call him strokeless? Like in Duleep Trophy last year where he was one of if not the highest scorers.

Can not say who will play for Ind and who wont. Easwaran is already in 11, injury to any of the opener or top order batter will make space for him, Jagadeesan and Badhoni may get to play t20i here or there. But having jurel as wk and vc do not think Jagadeesan will get a chance in this series , it would have been better if they add some young Wk.

The team needs a balance, especially the Test team. T20Is are fine, pack them with young batters, don't care much about that format as it only needs aggressive hitters. Age should be no problem, but such player should only be seen as stop-gap. For a test opener Ind already had Rohit as stop gap and KL is stop gap now. It would be about time selectors and management give a serious thought to it. And if they are selecting some1 who is a seasoned fc player then that player should walk into the playing 11 rather than sitting on the bench and should be able to perform right away. If tm and selectors are not confident of a seasoned player able to walk into the playing 11 and perform as per the role than better give chance to a young player. Ind picked unadkat what happened to him he was on the bench, what if selectors would have given a chance to a new bowler even if they needed development cycle they could have seen and told here are the areas of improvement and play next domestic season we have our eyes on you. Can samething be done with season player??--no. Karun who was selected had to be dropped and only made to 11 again in the series because his replacement was not scoring run. if seasoned player can not take wks or score runs where all other players are scoring and taking wkt what the point if they still need improvements, and selectors and Tm are not able to say he walks into playing 11 everytime. Mayank agarwal made back to Ind test side again after record breaking domestic season but again was dropped as he was not able to perform again The problem is players are not honest to themselves , coaches are not honest to them. And their are other non-cricketing reasons. Only Ind player who debut late and was able to have stable position in Ind team is Sky. And that is because he understood there was no way he can make it to Ind side, so he focused on T20s and became a v.good t20 player and got to Ind t20i side. Many other batters have followed the same route where they started working on their t20 batting after certain age and got good --DK, tripathi, jitesh are example of that they are/were better t20 batters from most of batter during their time. T20i are the best format for stop gaps if there is some1 in v.good form use it. T20i wc cycle is just 2 years and if some1 is good fo even 15 months make use of him. In test you will need to develop players-batters,fast bowlers you will need to develop fast bowlers- Umesh and Ishant took years of development. Example of mike Hussey is not right -- he was trying to make place during the time when Aus were super team, there was no way he was going to make it but Aus selectors knew he was v.good so kept him around with A teams and when a space was created with Bevan he had to play finisher's role where he was a top order batter but he grabbed the opportunity. Hayden made come back and was one of best openers ever, he was fully sorted and dominated the game thereafter. Think at one time manish pandey kept playing each and every A tour as #3 batter but selectors had no plan for him they kept on selecting him and he hardly played for Ind or got sorted that he can walk into playing 11. Aus system is completely different, every batter can play both leg and off side there are not player like gangully who are not that good in legside or are one sided player. Or take Vihari as example seasoned player think he had more than 50 matches before Ind debut but didnt know how to score runs he has no shot to play. Their system weed out such batter, there ballers all are tall and accurate and till few years back fast so they do not have to learn how to control line length or increase pace after coming to intnl level. The squad and teams are good it's just the genius of the BCCI that have clashed the Asia cup and the A tour. Could have e easily held the A tour a few days later after Asia cup and Duleep trophy. In the end every squad is impacted in a negative way
