His trajectory is exceptionally low because he releases the ball from well behind the crease , has always had very little control over length and his pace has declined by around 5 kph from his peak. Arrogant or not, it's just a lack of skill/attributes. pak bowling side collectively have been going for runs in last 2+ yrs now. this last 2-3 games have been their best, both shaheen and rauf have declined as bowlers and in pace. do not think its arrogance, its complexly skills. none of pak batters have 135+ sr and 25+ avg (yes may 1-2). Are they looking for small sm clips -- yes a big yes. thats what keeps them in the team or when they are out its what keeps them in conversation. as a bowling unit they go for runs everywhere nz-c/d level team was hitting them for 6s. its just that they put a lot of effort vs ind and think ind batters were cautious as well being the final, they wnt for runs in SA too. SecondSlip Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 @vvvslaxman @maniac @tapandrun Would Saim Ayub get into IPL if he was an Indian? Or would he be unsold and relegated to Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy? Paxtanis kept shouting that he’s on par with Abhishek & Jaiswal, but I saw nothing of that sort from him this tournament. I don’t think he is comparable to even Dev Padikkal!

I don’t think he is comparable to even Dev Padikkal! How could you compare an out and out t20 batter Abhishek to some1 who plays all 3 formats. Even there is no comparison between Jaiswal and Abhishek. As for Ayub he is not modern day t20 batter he may have better sr than most other pak batter but he is not special at this point he is ordinay to avg. (no disrespect but posting based on his intnl career), lets say he was paying smat, would you think an Ind domestic opener can make into IPL team unless they are v.special. Most IPL teams would have made some from mo to open and get a OS batter on the other end. Ques:: Do you think he is better than Rahul tripathi, Badoni, nitish rana etc in t20s??? As for will he be bought, yes it can happen mainly been seen as allrounder and be fringe player for IPL franchise. And if he was playing for some major domestic team. A lot goes in auctions, if there is some in the franchise who knows that certain player. Players like k. gautam, lalit yadav have been playing for yrs now without any contribution to the side. Its about if they play for some major domestic sides-- mubi, tn, kar, Del,Up, now pjb (yuvi is helping these player big time, he asked all pjb player to play all domestic season, and he also help them to get ipl contracts )else its hard they have to go through alot of those trials and hopefully some1 picks you and even to get the call for trials need to score runs in SMAT. Based on his intnl career so far what does he offer (other than being an allrounder)-- He does not offer stability nor does he offer explosiveness. for a top order batter Ind capped batters with good IPL records like Mayank Aggarwal are not getting picked. Heard there was comparison between another opener with Dravid/Williamson (forgetting the name). This is an inexpensive and cost effective way of market some, attach the name with something popular. For your comparison with padikal donot think he himslef would have made to ipl team if he was not from major domestic side and specially kar. His best format is Odis and he is okay for wht he offers nothing like nex. gen superstar. His intnl SR is 131 not sure if that would cut out to be a top-order batter now. So to answer if he was playing in smat would he be picked yes if playing for major domestic teams and no if not. If he was in IPL would he make it to top 3 of any playing 11 no, he may get some chance and then be benched. He has major issue with not able any shot right of the cover fielder and if he plays he often plays in air without ability to clear boundaries. Edited September 29, 2025 by tapandrun

As I said IPL player at best. Won’t make the Indian team. Jaiswal can’t get an opportunity in our side FFS. Forget Ayub lol.

BCCISelector Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 This time, their fans can't even blame team selection because this is pretty much the best T20 team they can assemble. These are the same players their fans were clamouring for after the humiliation at the T20 WC last year. Honestly, the Indian contingent of most IPL teams would beat this Pakistan team. The difference in quality is much wider in the longer formats of the game.

He had a good 2024 especially that South Africa tour. It will be interesting to see if he turns out to be a one season wonder like Nasir Jamshed. I think he has a very limited scoring area, unlike Jaiswal who can access all parts of the ground with ease. Modern day bowlers come prepared once there is enough data on the strong and weak points of a batter. That's why a lot of their promising batters fade away after 1-2 years. Our IPL openers are Abhishek, Jaiswal, Priyansh Arya, Ayush Mhatre, Suryavanshi, Sai, Gill etc. Most are scoring at a SR of around 200. Even Gill is a misfit and Gill's still heads and shoulders above Saim. Those days of an opener scoring at a rate of 130-140 are gone. Even a SR of 150 isn't that great as an opener these days. Saim Ayub is like a poorer left-handed version of Rahane and doesn't merit a place in playing XI Edited October 2, 2025 by Ultimate_Game SecondSlip, vvvslaxman and Gollum 3

QuarantineTormentino Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 I read a stat somewhere that they have only 2 players in their entire t20i history with a 25+ average and 130+ strike rate. It’s a skill issue. Bowling is mid against the top teams, comes good sometimes but not as often as they would like tapandrun, Gollum and vvvslaxman 3

We just were toying with the idea of liberalisation when Sachin burst onto the scene. He was from a materially impoverished nation. He went to win us many games and tournaments. What is to say something like that doesn’t happen in Pakistan? Or even a poorer team like Afghanistan? A few things Sachin was great but during the 90s India were quite poor and didn't win overseas tests/series or ICC titles. Only when the first batches of post liberalization players came into the team by the late 90s-early 2000s, Sachin started winning a lot more including overseas tests/series and ICC titles. Pakistan's setup is so flawed that players regress after a few years. Even India "lost" a lot of talent back in the day like Irfan, RP Singh etc. Now the system has become good enough that everyone is polished. Australia is the definition of a good system where a lot of players who were mediocre in their 20s come into the team in their 30s and become world class for a few years. So even if generational talents come into these teams, nothing is going to change. And Afghanistan had a generational talent in Rashid Khan and have players like Noor Ahmad etc. Gollum and Mariyam 2

Just hope the timing won't coincide with any worldcups.. don't care if we drop a game here and there in asia cups Tbh we would have won in 2021 too with a better team. The issue then was we let the spinners go away. This modern team with batting till 8 and L-R combo throughout would have negated Shaheen who is poorer to lefties aggressive batsmen would not have let Nawaz, Shadab, Hafeez settle Pak would have been chasing 180 and no way they would be able to chase it vs Bumrah and current day Varun/Kuldeep
