Mark Wood & Hazlewood out of the ashes. They are frequently injured these days, and considering both are around 35-36, they may also retire.

Josh has two injuries. So they are letting him prepare for world  T20

Except for one Stokes spell  6-1-23-5 in Test 1 innings 1,  the English bowling has been toothless.

Archer, Gussy boy and Carse are wandering and bowling somewhere.... Archer with his pillows and all.

If you are going to depend on Stokes to do the heavy lifting(bowling wise), you have a problem. England did that in the India tests too. Last 3 innings with no/little Stokes, the Indian batting benefited.

not amount of captaincy will make Siraj bowl like Starc or Boland. Smith is managing better personnel who are in career peak form, and he is doing a good job of it, but I don't think he is brining that much extra out of them. When the same Starc was out of form we all know what Smith ended up doing so let's have some perspective here

Smith wouldn't have never given an extended spell to spinners like Pant did in the first test

england wants an SOS call too

Anderson with his control and ability with pink ball would have done better than all England bowlers even now.

Opting for youngsters is fine but TM and captain better pray that they are doing right thing.
