That makes today's result even worse. Biggest political own-goal I have seen in a long time.

NTR had an expert backroom operator like Naidu. Vijay needs to find one.

Else he will be eaten alive by rivals.

BJP fans are so fun to rile up :phehe:, they do ease my bordeom every once in a while.

But in all seriousness, congrats to all BJP supporters for these epic results today. Can't remember when was the last time any politcal party enjoyed so many Ws in a single day.

Bengal earth shattering

Assam massive

Puducherry positive result, very good

Kerala 3 seats, and end of Left rule in India (1st time those fossils aren't in power anywhere)

TN result was a shocker, but I do think BJP has a lot to gain after today. TVK will be far easier to deal with (maybe even control) than DMK, and anything that weakens DMK is a W for BJP. What DMK faced today was humiliation worse than TMC, might just be the end of that dynastic party.

PS: Not a fan of many things DMK does, but they are good in governance. Hope Vijay doesn't negate all the gains made by TN in last 5 years, will be India's loss.

What a **** show this suvendu adhikary is...granted he wants to set up his rabid Hinduvta credentials...in his 15 min speech he is focusing on Hindu anger against Muslim...not on governance  and development...and law and order...goodnlord....hopefully it's just to get rss blessings to get the top job

r/kolkata - cR7 can never. messi is the real GOAT

What a coincidence. Btw how poorly organized was Messi's Kolkata leg !!!! Bengalis (most of them football fanatics) were damn pissed with TMC politicians who made that a private event for their families. They had to pay for their arrogance at some point.

I still believe this is more a vote against TMC (political violence, RG Kar, syndicate raj etc) than for BJP. 2031 election will tell us if they have truly accepted BJP as the way forward.

MGR Got 33% of the votes from public in 1977

VIjay has 34..5% of the votes now

But both are well behind NTR who garnered 45% of the votes.

Thing is MGR was well versed in politics before becoming CM. Was in Congress, then DMK till Annadurai's death, rose up the ranks gradually.

Vijay has two options in immediate term

(1) Tvk+ cong (5)+ commies (4) + iuml (2) + vck (2). That puts him at 120. He will have to give ministries but minor ones. Gets cong as ally for lok sabha which will framed as  pro or anti modi. I think he will avoid pmk given sc voters have given him large mandate. Might use them for outside support with cash.

(2) Tvk+ admk. More stable but he will have to give up more ministries and dents his outsider image. Eps too is very good at back room issues and is a schemer.

Mostly 1 will happen. Kick in teeth for dmk given that commies and iuml are letter pad parties who won only cause of them. This will hurt mk stalin who worked hard to keep alliance intact. I think cong know they can get 15 lok sabha seats to contest from vijay than the dmk. A desperate dmk might offer cong 20 seats.

From bjp pov they need to permanently break up with admk. Alliance has never worked. Fight lok sabha with likes of pmk (assuming tvk avoids them) with annamalai as lead even if it results in 0 seats. If they ally with admk it will still result in 0 seats. You may as well let admk contest seperately and see if you need them post poll.

I also think unless admk sack eps they will never survive. Have never won an election with or withoyt bjp under him. Lacks charisma and can only do backroom deals.

Vijay is here to stay for next 20 years in TN if he really does something good or not ruin whatever is alrady there. I don't think he is smart enough to even accidentally ruin the progress of TN.  TN system is very robust. Lot of things run on auto-pilot mode anyway.

Tamil Nadu is generally regarded as having a high degree of administrative stability and a strong, institutionalized bureaucracy that allows government functions to continue relatively smoothly, regardless of whether the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) or the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is in power. This consistency stems from over five decades of dominance by regional Dravidian parties, which have established a "comparative convergence" on key welfare and development policies. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Here is an analysis of how the government functions:
Key Drivers of Stability
  • Policy Continuity: Successive governments (DMK and AIADMK) have maintained long-term social welfare programs, such as the school meal scheme (initiated in the 1960s), ensuring continuity in healthcare and education.
  • Strong Bureaucracy: The state is known for a robust administrative machinery and a civil service that remains focused on development, fostering an environment where industrial development and investment continue across political changes.
  • Focus on Industrialization: Both parties have prioritized making the state business-friendly, resulting in Tamil Nadu having one of the highest numbers of factories in India.
  • Administrative Focus: Tamil Nadu is often described as a model for public administration in India, with strong local governance and high engagement in social welfare, which pressures leaders to deliver, regardless of their ideology. [1, 2, 3, 4]

If he is there for 20 years then one of admk or dmk will be finished.

All three vijay admj dmk cannot survive.

TN doesn't blindly vote for the same party over and over if they don't do well.

Admk will not survive if they don’t win another election. People will flee. DMK at least has a leader. ADMK has no one after jayalalitha.
